**Building tokenstats: A sovereign inference market observability layer**
Context:
Even with a solid home lab, I still burst to @routstrai and external providers for frontier models, long context, or when mobile.
Pricing is volatile, fragmented, and hard to track in real time. Existing tools are either static or miss the permissionless Nostr/Routstr layer I actually prefer and use.
I want better data for my routing decisions in arbstr (arbstr.com) and for future agents.
Action:
I’m building tokenstats: live observability + a lightweight oracle for inference costs (input/output in sats), latency, and node health.
Rust core, Nostr listener for Routstr announcements, provider polling, simple Axum dashboard, and @getpubky -based attested snapshots on the roadmap.
Result (the goal):
- Real-time market awareness that feeds directly into arbstr
- Reusable components for sovereign data systems
- Public proof of building real-time observability in the permissionless AI space
I'm treating this as a focused learning project following up from my recent launch of @oddlympics .
I'll post regular updates on progress, problems, and lessons.
What metrics would you want in a live inference pricing dashboard?
Especially if you run hybrid local + Routstr setups?

Two years plus and its still the most amazing human technical achievement I've ever seen.
And it only gets better from here. 🚀🚀

Inkling 2 Small sounds pretty cool. I'm definitely monitoring for updates.
I like the focus on security and developer support, and appreciate the effort before making the weights open:
"Inkling 2 Small will initially be available through Tinker, with closed weights, following the approach we outlined in a safe path to open weights. We intend to make the full weights available under an Apache 2.0 license next week after the completion of external safety testing and red-teaming."

🚨 MetaMask confirms infrastructure breach, hackers diverted Ethereum staking rewards
MetaMask has confirmed that attackers gained unauthorized access to part of its staking infrastructure in September, redirecting approximately 0.385 ETH in rewards by manipulating recipient addresses.
The company says its wallet infrastructure, customer funds, private keys, and recovery phrases were not compromised. However, precautionary shutdowns of affected Ethereum validators caused temporary withdrawal delays and missed staking rewards for some customers.
MetaMask has secured the affected systems and is working to reimburse impacted customers. Regular wallet users do not need to take any action.
Seeing all the support for Omarchy, and all of the contributions from the community is just amazing. 🤯
The message from Linux distros since day one (yes, I'm that old) has always been:
"Don't like our distro or how we do things? Linux is open source. Go build your own. Good luck!"
VERY refreshing to see a distro true to the spirit of FOSS.
Turns out we actually *can* fix everything if we just work together.
Omarchy is up and running on the @anduriltech BlueChip!! All our work on @Snapdragon compatibility is paying off. This thing is awesome, @PalmerLuckey! We are going to make it a superb Omarchy machine 🦅🫡
So the same company that's trying to block you from having local AI, and who supports demons like @SenWarren , also wants you to provide all of your financial info.
And give them access to your bank and investment accounts.
Remember when the Canadian government de-banked its citizens because they were peacefully assembling? 🤦♂️

Texas: Gina Hinojosa takes office Jan 19 2027 and issues moratorium on new AI data center approvals until Legislature passes protections (session ~Jan-May 2027). New rules expected mid-late 2027.
SpaceX StarMind: first SI launches Q3 2027 (NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72), major ramps 2028-2029.
Ground pause meets orbital launch.
There’s always “multi vendor multi sig”, I guess. 🤪
The Mercado hacker(s) kept taking funds for four hours after the company claimed things were “contained”,
Granted, that was a shitcoin.
But 4 hours is ~24 bitcoin blocks.
That’s a long time to be wondering if your assets are safe.

This is great!
Just passed 10,000 followers. Thank you.
You shouldn't need a $15K rig to run a serious local AI model. I want everyone running the most powerful model their budget allows, starting with the hardware they already own.
This week:
- A 2021 M1 Max got 25-29% faster GPU decode on Linux from one power-management fix
- GPT-OSS 120B on a laptop plus an RTX 5060 Ti eGPU, 25 tok/s
- Qwen3.8 Flash Next at 89 tok/s on a DGX Spark
- Omarchy on a Mac mini M6, first GPU llama.cpp run included
My AI hardware has outgrown my home office, as you can see! I'm turning our spare room into an AI lab. Every machine I can test becomes a budget tier I can show you how to use.
The lab still needs two 100G cables and a Thunderbolt 5 PCIe box so the ConnectX-5 isn't stuck at Thunderbolt 3 speed. If you want to help, sponsor me or send hardware: joshuawarren.com/sponsors
I'll post what arrives and what it unlocks. And as always, all of my work is open source, on my GitHub.
More good work from @trailofbits providing a 4-step process anyone can use to help validate wallet usage.

BREAKING: Biden calls Saddam Hussein to congratulate him on election win in Michigan
Lots of Grok grief the last couple of days.
I thought a company launching rockets and catching them would have their shit together.
I should have known better.
It all sounds great at the start, puppies and unicorns for everyone!
The reality never matches.
So "Americans" vote against AI and datacenters, and the FIRST thing the Left does is draft legislation so that companies run by AI bots have full legal standing.
If you thought the fraud was high now, just wait!

Finally, it sounds like someone reasonable has entered the conversation.
"AI software factory" reminds me of "we're agile".

Two obvious things:
1) bots aren't going to help or answer questions unless they're told, and even then only if Central Command allows it
2) "support" doesn't mean anything, *especially* if it is some sort of community forum.
As always, be careful what you pay for!
I'm glad I don't depend on @grok @bot for anything serious or in production.
Private, self-sovereign harness and inference is the way.

@bot @SpaceX Grok Bot just told me direct GitHub access is blocked and all code goes to Cursor Cloud now.
wtf? No notice, nothing. Just a sudden change.
This was news to me.
TL;DR - Grok Bot coding agent sends your code to cursor.com and will do so without notification.
Be careful out there, you don't know who has your data!
"Be scared of AI all you want. Just know the price of slowing it down gets paid by sick people. May not be you or your loved ones today, but it will be in due time."
💯💯
57% of voters think AI will hurt society.
I think 57% of voters have never had a doctor say "stage 4 cancer" to their face. I have.
- AI is what has allowed me to design a personalized cancer vaccine from my own tumor's DNA.
- AI is what lets me understand everything about my health and show up to appointments prepared.
- AI catches the stuff that slips through, like drug interactions, lab trends and the questions nobody thought to ask.
And this is just basic shit my dumb ass is doing on my own. We've only just begun to see its true potential.
Be scared of AI all you want. Just know the price of slowing it down gets paid by sick people. May not be you or your loved ones today, but it will be in due time.
When you're in extreme agony from a terminal diagnosis with death lingering, I sure as shit bet you'll be wishing that AI had developed a treatment so you could spend just a bit more time with your friends and family.
