Virginia State Senator Louise Lucas abused her position of power for her own personal gain and is now charged with racketeering and money laundering.
She is a disgrace to public service.

Sheldon Whitehouse says Joe Biden “chickened out” of packing the Supreme Court.
Court packing was considered a fringe idea; now, it is a recurrent call from the modern Left.
Democrats have made it clear that they don’t just want to undermine the originalist majority; they want to destroy the institution of the Court.

35 years ago today, Clarence Thomas was confirmed to the U.S. Supreme Court by the Senate.
Growing up in segregated Georgia, he rose to become one of the greatest Supreme Court justices in American history.
The Court and our country are better off today because of him.

Colorado’s true intentions in Suncor v. Boulder are becoming clear: use state torts to establish national energy policy through the courts.
I joined the @GuyBensonShow to discuss.

Chief Justice Roberts was spot on in oral argument yesterday. The reason we see these very specific claims brought by Boulder is because their ultimate goal is to reduce emissions and evade existing federal law.

Chief Justice Roberts presses Colorado’s lawyer on the true intentions behind Boulder’s suit:
“Isn’t your suit an attempt to evade those decisions...it’s an effort to reduce emissions.”

Justice Brett Kavanaugh on the precedents that support Suncor’s arguments:
“As I read them together, [these precedents] make crystal clear that interstate air and water pollution are matters for federal law unless Congress specifically preserves state law. That is through and through those four cases."

Today, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in Suncor v. Boulder.
If Boulder succeeds, the floodgates could be open for states like Colorado and California to set national climate policy and regulate several industries in other states.
This case is just part of a broader push by the Left to weaponize the Court and enact extreme environmental policies through lawfare.

In a piece previewing Suncor v. Boulder, @imillhiser charges that the energy companies are “thumbing their nose” at the justices’ “purported allegiance to textualism and originalism.”
Really? That would certainly be news to the late Justice Scalia.
What's “audacious” is pretending that textualists and originalists, from Justice Scalia on, didn’t see founding-era structural limits as central to constitutional interpretation.

Next Monday, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in Suncor v. Boulder and have an opportunity to reaffirm that neither a state nor a municipality may govern the nation.
“If global carbon emissions are contributing to a changing climate, it is up to Congress, not a local courtroom, to determine the appropriate response. Boulder County’s abuse of state tort law to regulate the world’s emissions is unconstitutional.” - Christopher Mills

I commend these two thoughtful pieces on Suncor v. Boulder from @mike_frags on @NRO. 👇🏻
I have a post up at @NRO on two recent articles on the Suncor case. One, by me, was recently published at HJLPP on how the Boulder plaintiffs are seeking "judicial collectivization" and their position represents the most glaring arrogation of judicial power since Earl Warren. 👇

A six-month sentence for violence against women and a forced abortion is absolutely despicable.
@marjoriesba is right — where are the “my body, my choice” advocates now?
Replying to @FoxUSNews
Dannenfelser torched the outcome and the silence from abortion-rights groups: "Where are the advocates, the feminists, the people who are against the coercion of women, the people who are 'my body, my choice,' the people who say that medical care is all that they're really looking for?"
She says the DOJ needs to step in — and that the attorney general has signaled he will.

We have the best Supreme Court in our lifetime — one that is bringing the Court and our country back to an originalist understanding of the Constitution.
That is a major win we can celebrate this Constitution Day!

Must Watch: @mctoth reveals how the Left's dangerous efforts to pack the Supreme Court for political advantage mirror its attempts to push its radical climate agenda through lower courts.
“At the federal level, we’re seeing efforts, proposals to pack the U.S. Supreme Court to sort of get the outcomes that we want out of the federal courts. What we’re mainly talking about today is sort of an action plan at the state level, focus on state judges for proponents to get the outcomes that they want in state courts.”

The ABA defied the Court’s ruling in SFFA v. Harvard for years, and only until its monopoly over law school accreditation was in jeopardy did it take steps to comply with the law.
DEI mandates have no place in the legal profession and education.
Don’t be fooled; the ABA still acts more like a leftist advocacy organization than a nonpartisan professional organization. This was a desperate play to retain its accreditation power.

Once upon a time, even FDR’s own Democratically-controlled Congress stood up to his attempts to pack the Supreme Court.
Today’s Democrats, on the other hand, would happily destroy the Court in a nakedly partisan quest for power.

“This is serious stuff. This whole systematic, orchestrated, planned attack on the independence of one of the separate and equal branches of our government.”
The Left’s playbook to undermine the Supreme Court has been on full display for years. Their calls to “reform” the Court have only grown louder, and it all stems from their thirst for control.
