I am so ready for the election to be done. And no, I haven't voted, but I will on Election Day. Leave me alone! I'm the person that votes in the school board election so don't worry, I'll be there.

If we travel at Thanksgiving, it is usually driving to Chicago. This year it is our child's last football game as a member of the dance team. Husband is acting like I've never booked a flight in my life. Why are we leaving so early? IDK, PM at IAH on a normal day is bad enough.

It is that time of year! I wish I could halt the bulk mail crap too. That goes straight to the recycle bin without even being read.

All I can see is Obi-Wan Kenobi when I see that outfit. It looked better on him.

Very Nice of Jerry Jones but their writer needs to go back for a basic US geography lesson. "Sunday in Houston, with his wife in labor back in Texas, James played the entire game against the Houston Texans and made two tackles." Houston and Dallas are both in TEXAS.
His wife went into labor while he was in Houston with the team. He played the whole game anyway. Then the owner of the team put him on his private jet and sent him home. His name is Shemar James and he plays linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys. Sunday in Houston, with his wife in labor back in Texas, James played the entire game against the Houston Texans and made two tackles. Dallas came back to win it 34 to 30 on a touchdown with 40 seconds left. He did not leave at halftime. He did not leave when the clock hit zero. He stayed for the postgame breakdown in the locker room, the part where everybody puts their hands in and the coach talks. Then head coach Brian Schottenheimer told the media what was going on. "Shemar James' wife is in labor, and he'll be flying home with the Joneses. And that's pretty cool. So, praying for an easy delivery, and God is good." Jerry Jones put him on the family plane. He was gone before most of his teammates had their pads off. Now here is the part that makes this land. Shemar James grew up in Mobile, Alabama, and went to Faith Academy. He picked Florida over Alabama. His sophomore year ended early with a knee injury before the Georgia game. He came back, became a team captain, and intercepted his first career pass against Miami. Dallas traded up in the fifth round of the 2025 draft to take him 152nd overall. He was 20 years old. They gave him number 50. Sean Lee wore that number for eleven years in Dallas. And here is what James said at his first rookie minicamp. "I was born into this world a Cowboys fan." He grew up in an entire family of them. He also said this. "I kind of can't believe I'm in the NFL right now, especially with the Cowboys." Then he went out as a rookie and played 14 games, started six of them, and put up 91 tackles. Be honest about the gesture. Jerry Jones owns a plane that was flying to Dallas regardless, and it did not cost him much to put one more person on it. As of this writing nobody has announced whether the baby has arrived. But understand the shape of the day. A kid from Mobile said he was born into this world a Cowboys fan. He got hurt, came back, captained his college team, and got taken in the fifth round by the only team he ever wanted. Sunday his own kid started coming while he was in another city with his team. He finished the game. He stood in the huddle for the speech. Then the man who owns the Dallas Cowboys flew him home to go meet his child.

Today I am thankful to not have Peacock or NBCSN. That is all.

After my mom died in Dec of 2021, my husband thought trips to Houston would be less frequent, then our child got into @RiceUniversity. This week she received an excellent job offer that will keep her in Houston post graduation. Guess trips to Houston will continue! 💙🩶🩵

I just love my packages being left on the driveway next to the garage on a rainy day when the front porch is steps away and dry. @FedEx @FedExHelp They also lied on the picture and said left at the front door.

There's a small window in life when your parents are healthy, your children are little, and everyone is happy and together. It feels like it will last forever, it won’t. Cherish every moment of it.

Even though neither UT or OSU are in my top 25 of favorite college football teams, they have my mad respect for playing each other out of conference instead of a team like Notre Dame playing Rice. (Mind you, I love Rice since my child is a student there, but come on!)

I lost my Dad on 9/11. I don’t get a lot of reach on here. But I just wanted to share a picture. He was 39. I thought he was old. I’m now in my mid 30s and I still feel like a kid. He was a great trader. He loved markets. He loved to find a stock no one was talking about. The first trade I ever placed was on his work computer, where he let me click the button to buy AMAT. I loved going to the office with him. It was electric. He was the best dad. We spent hours out in the street after dinner where he’d throw “pop flys” for me to catch. Eye on the ball. He loved watching Sponge Bob and eating cereal, wrestling with us in the living room. He just loved being around his kids so much, and we knew it. I’m so grateful I got a dad like that. Love you, Pops.

25 yrs, I got out of the shower to a phone call telling me to turn on the TV only to be shown the 2nd plane hitting the tower. It is a sight I will never forget. Later that day, I drove to Walgreens only to see AF1 flying overhead back from Omaha to DC. Surreal.
