What an amazing weekend! Huge thanks to our speakers, sponsors and brilliant volunteers, and to everyone who came along, supported our authors and helped make this year’s festival so special. We couldn’t do it without you. See you in 2027! #IsleOfWightLiteraryFestival #ThankYou

Cafcass had 46,452 children on its open cases at the end of August. Private law cases are up 12 per cent in the financial year so far, against 3.6 per cent for public law. The open private law list has grown by more than a tenth in a year. socialworkworld.org/cafcass-…

bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cmly… Good to see robots are back but isn’t Robert a tad too small to care? Try my #Henry2 for a stronger version The Laughing Robot and let me know what you think?

We don't need the panoply of a new National Care Service organisation. •No headquarters. •No regional structures. •No new chief executives, boards, committees and organograms. •No expensive transition programme, and… myemail.constantcontact.com/…

National Care Service which “speaks the same language across health & social care” AND works on NHS principles very welcome @bbclaurak @1adass

Agree on boundaries but It’s not about structural change. It’s about shared joint accountability to the individual and community #health #socialcare #integration #peoplefirst
The boundary between health and social care isn't a boundary, it's a maze. Decades of policy have split them by funding and governance, leaving people to repeat their story to strangers. What structural change would you prioritise? #SocialCare #DickensAndHisOlderPeople

Each step for older people on the health and social care journey is confusing and often difficult. Yet there is no need nor reason not to join the journey up for a smoother pathway - physically, mentally, technically #TheLaughingRobot

Really enjoyed this wonderful sensible and kind treatment of the human world with people at the heart of #AI #TheLaughingRobot #socialwork
I wrote The Human Future of Care because the future of #AI is not really about machines. It is about people, #dignity, #humanrights & the values we choose to hold onto. Today the book is launched and joins a vital conversation about how technology can serve our #humanity. #Care

Be aware though that many over 80s like myself only take 2 or less medicines a day. Also that my local pharmacy is a far more accessible & knowledgeable source of the use of certain medications & regimes than my GP in the NHS @pharmacy @NHS
Replying to @ShaunLintern
Almost 8 million over 50s are taking 5 medicines a day - the threshold for #polypharmacy - About 2.2 million take 10 drugs a day. For frail, elderly patients drugs can have cumulative, harmful effects and the NHS just isn't geared up to tackle the problem: #tomorrowspaperstoday
