ALT Data for Action Lead, President of the African Neonatal Association and Neonatologist Dr Alexander Stevenson commented on the importance of data-driven decision-making when implementing small and sick newborn care: "Good data tells us how the world actually is. It is the ultimate evidence of real-life situations. It is the best map to guide us to our destination of improved neonatal care. But good data is not easy to record and process. That is why we need the few people working in the field in low- and middle-income settings, to collaborate and share their experiences, successes and obstacles. It is depressing how little we actually know, but progress can be greatly accelerated using new technologies and sharing of data. This is the very first priority of our fight against neonatal mortality".

ALT Clinical Station Lead and IMNHC Fellow Sarah Collins had the following to say on the neonatal immersive experience: “The small and sick newborn Expo epitomized the IMNHC conference theme ‘Together’. It was an amazing time spent sharing experience implementing care for small and sick newborns, showcasing thermal and jaundice management as well as Kangaroo Mother Care. To ensure every newborn survives and thrives we need implementers to act together for sustainable change.”
