Caring & its consequences
Many people don’t see the strain unpaid carers are under. Even professionals can underestimate the toll caring can take on the soul of an unpaid carer.

In hospital, diagnostic overshadowing means seeing the disability instead of the illness.
In social policy, are we seeing the label 'unpaid carer' instead of 100+ hours of work a week?
1 in 3 carers do those hours. Carer's Allowance? £86.45.
Different systems. Same blindness.

I am so sick of hearing MPs talking about "getting the welfare budget down" yet never addressing the fact there are no jobs-currently under 700k vacancies with 1.7m people actively looking for work.
Where do they think those they plan to kick off sickness benefits will find work?

“If you can work, you should work.”
One in three unpaid carers provide 100+ hours of care a week. Some receive just £86.45 in Carer’s Allowance, deducted pound for pound from Universal Credit.
They’re already working, Mr Vickers. Why doesn’t that work count?
pissed off, football going badly and my migraine won’t go. Not eaten properly today, going to get some food.

Anyone who thinks tapering Carer’s Allowance as earnings rise solves anything isn’t paying attention. £86.45 a week for 35 hours of care is a pittance! It should be paid regardless of earnings. Why should caring for someone mean having to live in poverty? Ridiculous!

Just to clarify a 66 year old person looking after their disabled partner who gets attendance allowance has their care allowance stopped when the they reach pension age as it is an over lapping benefit. The partner is still doing the caring but has lost the carers allowance.
We do not have support from these carers charities, they have never campaigned for unpaid carers to get paid a fare amount. What carer can get a paid job, you have to be around 24/7 anything can happen at any time.

Tommy Robinson convicted of harassing two journalists.
If you want to send inch high, going to jail guy, a present, may I suggest the Christmas Dinner Porridge from Sainsbury's taste the difference range?
Simply add right wing tears and stir until ready to eat.

51 hours a week
As an employee: £648.85
As a carer providing 35 hrs of care + 16 hours’ paid work: £290.45
Same hours. £358.40 less
Why is the Government tinkering with what carers can earn instead of confronting what their unpaid labour is worth?
@andyburnham @JohnHealey_MP
when unpaid carers get ill they are expected to carry on caring . There is no sick pay. No holidays , no maximum working hours per week and no pay. For saving billions a year.
Social care has become dangerously dependent on unpaid carers.
When services fail, families step in. When carers become ill, they’re still expected to.
But who supports the person holding everything together when their own health fails?
chuffin-ell.com/post/what-do…
Carers Allowance translates to 51 pence per hour of work. The UKGov are now changing the 'Cliff Edge' rules in 2030 so that any earnings over the allowance are taxed at 100% so why are people celebrating? It's a f*cking Insult. Unpaid carers save the UK Gov £184 billion a year.

Society has normalised the unthinkable
1 in 3 unpaid carers provide 100+ hrs of care weekly. Over 14 hrs a day, 7 days a week
Not occasional shifts. Their everyday existence.
If even carers’ charities aren’t challenging this, who stands up for those pushed beyond human limits?
