To the Americans:
I've travelled all over the world. I've familiarized myself with many places, and met many people. And I'm a Canadian, although I’m privileged to reside once again in the States.
And here's something I've noticed, and it’s a key element of America's continuing greatness:
You bloody Americans value success, and you believe in its existence.
This is something that doesn't really happen anywhere else in the world. Even in other free democracies—the United Kingdom; Finland, Sweden, and Norway; Australia, New Zealand and Canada; Germany, France, and the Netherlands (great countries all)—a counterproductive cynicism too often reigns.
Success is equated with exploitation.
Ambition is looked upon with contempt.
This happens sometimes in the United States too—particularly among the miserable progressives, who confuse their resentment, ingratitude and unearned skepticism with wisdom.
But in your great country, by and large, striving is admired and success celebrated.
This means that more people strive and succeed in the US than anywhere else. And it's increasingly obvious. You remain stunningly more innovative and productive than any people anywhere else on the planet.
And so I say, as all should who are fortunate enough to live in the western world, let alone America:
Thank God for the United States.
Thank God for the wisdom of its founders.
Thank God for its faith in the free market and in the natural rights of man.
Happy birthday, you damn Yankees and Southerners.
Long may your admirable country dominate the world.
Long may your freedom and hope provide an example to those suffering everywhere at the hands of their malevolent states.
May your two and a half centuries of unparallelled success be just the beginning.
Your country is the light of the world, and the city on the hill.
Thank God for the USA.
Happy 250th.

SMU is so blessed to have such a great coach in @rhettlashlee. Not just a great coach… but a great man. A role model for young men.
Go, @CodyC64!
The TV Networks (specifically Fox and ABC) are refusing to run this ad for @SavingCollSprts today during the games.
No good reason given as to why - just ignoring us or telling us to contact their attorneys. The General Council for one major network told me it was a “business decision”. This was AFTER we’d sent them a large wire to pay for the ads!
Why would the networks want to silence a legitimate debate around an issue that affects hundreds of thousands of kids and is existentially threatening to women’s sports and Olympic sports? What is the “business reason” that overrides the benefit and enjoyment that college sports provide to tens of millions of Americans?
What are they hiding??
If there was ever a question that money, control, and greed are being prioritized over student athletes, fans, and communities…Here you go!!
We all knew that the current situation in college sports seemed very slimy and was driven by people who couldn’t care less about the common good…. But we had no idea how bad it truly is!!
It’s become obvious…We have to drain the swamp that College Sports have become!!
This fight isn’t about me, and it certainly isn’t about TV ads - it’s much bigger. It’s about doing what is right and necessary to save a great American institution. I promise that I won’t stop fighting until we are successful in solving this problem, and I know I can count on many of you to join me!
Coming out of twitter sports shadows for this one... in honor of the Battle of the Iron Skillet...
It's Skillet week in DFW... and on Saturday at 11 AM, the 104th and final Iron Skillet matchup will be played in FTW at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
This game, which is regional, historic, and tense... embodies everything that is good about college sports. Yet, after Saturday it will go away for maybe, ever...
Why?
People who have only been at an institution for a few years have determined that they have the authority to crush tradition that has been going for more years than they have been living.
Do the fans want this?
No.
I would go as far as to say that very few fans want this. We want what is good about college football to remain, when so much of it is being sacrificed on the altar of the almighty dollar.
It is a shame. I won't speculate publicly in this post as to why this game is no longer being played. But I can certainly tell you that SMU wants to play the game. Win or lose, SMU wants to play. And based on what I have heard from TCU fans, they want it too.
SMU for quite some time, was non-competitive in this matchup. From the moment of the NCAA imposed death penalty, until the infamous year of 2019, TCU leads the series 23-6. But since the SMU program has found new juice and is rising from its proverbial ashes... from the year of 2019 until now (with a TCU cancellation during 2020), SMU leads the series 3-2.
Cancel the series now that it's getting good? It is a shame that SMU didn't consider this first when it was in charge of the matchup in significant fashion... going 19-2 in the Skillet game, from 1966-1986.
TCU cancels the matchup just as SMU begins to rise... picking up it's toys and going to another sandbox. I think, while that comment may inflame a TCU fan, that many of them agree with me on premise, regardless of emotion. It is certainly how it looks & seems.
What all were the arguements to stop the series? We have heard things like "its better for our season ticket holders" meanwhile, SMU's marquee matchup with the Frogs has been replaced with less than stellar teams. And the arguement that SMU is a G5 program that brings down the SOS? Not viable as SMU is now in the ACC & even made a conf champ and playoff appearance last year. And now, apparent comments that SMU doesn't seem to care too much about the rivalry? I'm not sure how many times the goalposts have to be moved until someone comes out & says the truth...
TCU, and it's leadership, don't want to play the game, no matter how much the game benefits their fan bases, their cities, and the game of CFB...
SMU fans, in part, feel jaded & ready to leave TCU in the rear view... but isn't that common, mutual disdain, what real rivalries are made of? Isn't that what makes the sport fun?
I seem to think so.
I think the Iron Skillet should be played every year, as it has been for the most part over the last century. Regardless of what administrations, who the rivarly would have itself outlasted, think about it.
Give us the Skillet! For SMU fans & for TCU fans alike. For the DFW metroplex & for the game of college football that we all love.
... PONY UP
What do you think?
From the outside… I share this same sentiment
Assuming Chip and Joanna are still upstanding members of their local church, their pastor is to blame. Years of big-box, mass-market, Evangelical fluff—devoid of biblical depth, courageous preaching, or accountability. This is what it produces.
I don’t think the reaction to this is pearl-clutching from a bunch of judgmental Pharisees. I think people are realizing most American Evangelicalism is a mile wide and an inch deep, with rot and cowardice at the center.
We need repentance and revival. All of us do. It’s bad. Satan is picking us off one by one, and the Shepherds are asleep.
You can’t be a control freak & a son of God at the same time
Romans 8:14 (NKJV):
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
I want to live every waking moment of my life on Kingdom assignment for Jesus.
His will, not mine, be done. That His Kingdom alone, may come.
As a follower of Jesus, how does this make you feel?
🚨 BREAKING: We now have ANOTHER ANGLE of the people shouting "Christ is King... Jesus is Lord" at the Harris rally.
Afterward, she shouted at them, "You must be at the wrong rally." They were kicked out.

BREAKING: Virginia head coach Tony Bennett is retiring, source told @TheFieldOf68.
🚨🚨BREAKING: Florida State sues SMU for fraud. Claims that SMU was really a P4, but impersonating a G5 all along.
Concerning, as FSU’s argument holds weight.
Stay tuned.
SMU speared the Seminoles last night, bring us to 4-1 overall.
Our lone loss comes by 3 against what was a sneaky, but now blatantly solid team in BYU… consider also, we still didn’t have our QB room fully figured out in that game either.
We still have to beat a:
+ 4-0 Pitt, a 5-0 Duke
+ 3-1 Cal, a 3-1 Virginia
+ 4-1 BC
+ #15 ranked Louisville next week
Everyone on the remainder of our schedule is either undefeated or a 1-loss team, minus Stanford, whose 2 losses came by way of TCU & Clemson. See the rest of the remaining opponents:
+ Cal’s loss came by FSU
Virginia’s loss came by Maryland
+ BC’s lone loss came in a 1 score game to #6 Mizzou
+ Louisville’s loss can’t by way of #16 ranked ND
I know we didn’t get the “hardest” schedule out there for ACC play… but it sure ain’t a cake walk.
Regardless, aside from Louisville’s matchup next weekend, SMU is favored through the finish…
Does SMU play in Charlotte, in December, in year 1 of ACC play? It’s very possible.
