Allow me to reintroduce myself. My name is Justin Block and I'm a 5th generation entrepreneur. My family started our first business in 1910. My great great grandfather started a food canning company, which was then sold in 1942. In 1948, my great grandfather co-founded Reddi-wip. In 1965, my grandfather started the first UHT dairy-plant in the country. We sold them both in 1978. A few years later in 1981, my grandfather started Darifair Foods (now Rubix Foods). Over the years, the business evolved into a food science company making flavor systems for some of the biggest restaurant chains in the country. I joined after college to help build and sell it. Due to my incredible family and our amazing team, we sold it in 2019 and again in 2025. Every generation had built a business, sold it, and started again. That was the only life I ever knew. I never considered doing anything else. But somewhere along the way I realized building companies wasn't the whole picture for me. I never liked school. I felt lost for a long time. The things that actually changed my life were books, mentors, and spending time by myself to get to know myself more. Now I'm running Block Ventures, my personal investment firm, venture studio, and media company. I start and invest in businesses across food and beverage, sports, tech, and education. I'm writing my first book. And our media arm is built around one thing: helping people become the best version of themselves. If my journey and 115 years of family business has taught me one thing, it's this: you don't need to be a billionaire to live well. You just need to know yourself early and go directly for what you want. I'm excited to continue sharing my learnings and for what's next. The journey is just getting started!

What is the pill called where you’re no longer impressed by just business success - but what impresses you is living a life of health, being financially independent doing something you love, being surrounded by great people and being a fulfilled human being?

Achieving your goals is amazing, and you should go after them as best you can, but I can tell you from personal experience and the shared experience of many other “succesful people”… The purpose of achieving your goals is who you become along the way.

Too many people give up on their dreams because they’re listening to people who gave up on theirs.

You think business is hard because you just aren’t good enough yet.

We all have rules about how life “should be”, but if you never stop to examine them, you will live by these rules which makes living a fulfilled life almost impossible.

If you want to really change your life, when meeting someone new - change your thought process from “how can I get something out of this” to “how can I serve this person”.

Courage is a commodity that the world needs right now. For some of us, it means the courage to be ourselves, regardless of what others may think. Or, the courage to be willing to fail. To continue on when when we want to give up. The courage to say something important that needs to be said, regardless of the outcome. The courage to stand up to something bigger than ourselves when it is important. The courage to realize how truly incredible and precious we really are, and in doing so choosing to fully realize our greatness. We all fall short sometimes. We fail. There is a great quote that is attributed to Winston Churchill. I do not know if he actually ever said it. "Fear is a reaction. Courage is a decision." My hope is that you choose courage. The world needs you.
Do you have the courage to push through your fear?

When your life conditions change, so must your blueprint - aka - your beliefs, values, and rules for life…otherwise you are going to have a tough time.
