Watch this, please. What a remarkable, courageous, and kind person. His admiration for the unarmed teacher who took on the shooter shines through. Please pray for him. He's carrying a lot -- there is such a cost to taking a life, even when it's necessary.
Bend, Oregon man who shot and killed a shooter at his daughters' school speaks out, praises female teacher for fighting the shooter, allowing him to have a clear shot.
Kaylub Giamanco says he is haunted by the sound of children pleading for their lives.
He also praised the teacher for grabbing the gunman's weapon, allowing him to take a shot at the shooter.
"I want to recognize [the teacher]. She gave me the opportunity to make my shot without losing my life..."
"I swung the door open, and I stepped in, and I fired, and they dropped to the ground... I looked down at the gunman, and he was scrambling for his weapon. And I looked at him, and I shot him 2 more times..."

This young Catholic couple, 27 and 28 in this photograph, are now both officially being considered for sainthood. The Church calls them Servants of God.
Takashi and Midori Nagai are being recognized for the Christian witness of their marriage, family life, suffering, faith, and service, especially in wartime and atomic-bombed Nagasaki.
But one detail in their chronology surprised me.
Their first son appears to have been conceived before their Catholic wedding. I’ve found no indication that little Makoto (it means Truth in Japanese) was premature.
Whatever the explanation, the chronology caught my attention because we can easily turn candidates for sainthood into spotless figures.
Holiness is about what repentance, forgiveness, and grace can make of an entire human life.
Servants of God Takashi and Midori Nagai, pray for us.

Brothers and sisters:
Have no anxiety at all, but in everything,
by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,
make your requests known to God.
Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

There exists a martyrdom of those who offer their lives in a single moment, and the more hidden martyrdom of those who give their lives day after day. This is exactly what all Christians are called to do: to give our lives with love, every day.

In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.

Happy feast day of St. Thérèse, dear friends! 🌹
She's often pictured handing us a rose — but, sometimes, I think of her even more when I spy a little wildflower.
"I understood that if all flowers wanted to be roses, nature would lose her springtime beauty."

Six young men with Down syndrome served at Pope Leo XIV’s Mass in Paris after personally requesting the opportunity.
This sent a message to France.
96% of babies prenatally diagnosed with Down syndrome in the French regions are reportedly aborted.
People with Down syndrome are not mistakes. They are gifts from God, created with purpose and infinite dignity.

St. Thérèse novena begins today. ❤️
O Little Thérèse of the Child Jesus, please pick for me a rose from the heavenly gardens and send it to me as a message of love.
O Little Flower of Jesus, ask God to grant the favors I now place with confidence in your hands…
St. Thérèse, help me to always believe as you did in God’s great love for me, so that I might imitate your “Little Way” each day.
Amen.
