Bombing Iran in the middle of negotiations, while starving Cuba, while genociding Palestinians, while threatening to invade Greenland… the US and Israel are the single greatest threat to humanity and it’s not even close. We are all forced to live in the nightmare they create.

Guys, terakhir nih sebelum tidur.

Gak perlu reimburse. Langsung dibayar kampus. 4) Ke konferensi di UK atau India? Berangkat aja. Biaya sudah ditanggung sama lab tempat Anda bekerja. 5) Bayar UKT? Nggak bayar. Anda pekerja lab. UKT dibayar oleh lab. Anda tinggal bekerja. 6) Biaya hidup? Anda digaji oleh lab. Bekerja 40 jam seminggu di sana. 7) Topik riset dan kebaruan? Lab didanai dengan ide dari Profesor. Anda gak perlu cari topik, tinggal ikut apa yang dia kerjakan. 8) Kelas dan tugas? Ada tapi highly irrelevant, pembimbing Anda gak terlalu peduli, yang penting IPK di atas threshold biar UKT murah, jadi lab gak keluar duit besar. 9) Anda dah lulus tapi belum mau kerja? Profesor biasanya masih butuh tenaga mantan mahasiswanya. Postdoc atau postmaster. Gajinya juga sebagai tenaga kerja. Bukan lagi gaji mahasiswa.

There’s pressure across academia: “Publish in Q1 and Q2 journals - anything less is not good enough.” It’s a familiar mantra in many institutions. But it’s worth asking whether this expectation genuinely serves scholarship? Here’s why you should not just focus on Q1 and Q2 journals. 1. Quartiles are not a measure of quality - only of journal-level performance. A Q1 journal can publish weak papers. A Q3 journal can publish groundbreaking ones. Quartiles reflect citation distributions, not journal/article quality. Treating quartiles as a proxy for quality oversimplifies the complexity of research evaluation. 2. “Best fit” often matters more than “best quartile.” A highly specialised paper may have its natural home in a niche journal that sits outside Q1/Q2. Forcing it into a top-tier venue can dilute its relevance, slow down publication, or push it into journals that are not read by the scholars that should be reading your article. 3. Impact comes from usefulness, not quartile labels. A paper can transform industry practice or shape local policy, but appear in a Q3 or Q4 journal, or even one that is not indexed. Real-world impact rarely aligns neatly with journal-level metrics. 4. Over-emphasis on quartiles can distort behaviour. It can encourage scholars to chase metrics instead of questions that genuinely matter. It can push early-career researchers into risk-averse strategies, narrowing creativity and discouraging interdisciplinary work that doesn’t fit the traditional mould. 5. It creates inequities - globally and institutionally. Not all disciplines have the same availability of Q1/Q2 journals. Not all countries or universities have the same access or resources. The expectation of “Q1 or nothing” often disadvantages scholars working in emerging fields or developing regions. For an alternative view, see: teapawt.net/fake_journals/status/1…
There’s an argument that researchers should not worry about publishing in Q1 or Q2 journals. Instead that we should just focus on doing good research. It’s a nice idea, but in practice, it ignores how universities, funders, and the wider research ecosystem works. Here’s why aiming for Q1 and Q2 journals still makes strategic sense. 1. Quality control matters. Top-quartile journals usually have stronger editorial processes, deeper reviewer pools, and more robust standards. Publishing in those journals does not guarantee excellence, but it does have an impression that you have jumped a higher hurdle. It signals that your work has survived tougher scrutiny. 2. Visibility is not a luxury. A good paper hidden in a low-visibility journal rarely has the impact it deserves. Q1 and Q2 journals tend to reach a wider audience. They are better indexed, more frequently cited and more embedded in the global research community. 3. Institutions don’t operate in a vacuum. Promotion committees, grant panels, ranking agencies and policy bodies use journal quality metrics, as imperfect as they are. Scholars who ignore this reality can unintentionally disadvantage themselves in competitive environments where metrics still shape decisions. 4. It protects the scholarly record. The rise of predatory journals means the line between legitimate and questionable publishing is thinner than ever. Q1/Q2 journals offer an extra layer of protection against publishing in questionable journals. 5. It builds trust - internally and externally. Collaborators, industry partners and international peers often use journal quartiles as a quick way to judge the quality of a journal and extend that confidence (albeit incorrectly) to an article. Publishing in reputable journals reassures them that you take standards seriously and that the underlying research has weight. For an alternative view, see: teapawt.net/fake_journals/status/1…

. 1,069,301 more citations and an h-index increase of 159. ... and in just 39 days On 01 Sep, I posted about Yoesoep Edhie Rachmad whose Google Scholar profile showed that he had over three million citations (first image). I checked back today (9 Oct 2025) and he now has 5,194,409 citations, and an h-index of 1,835 (second image). In 39 days his citations have increased by 1,069,301 and his h-index has increased by 159. I would love to know how he is manipulating his account (as he obviously is).
