Let me take you back to the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, passed in 2013 and brought into force in 2014.
Section 44 made it mandatory for every public servant to declare their assets and liabilities, along with those of their spouses and dependent children.
Only the IAS lobby opposed this provision with all its strength. You can guess why.
The DoPT extended the deadline for submitting property declarations five times. Every time, it declared that no further extension would be granted under any circumstances. Yet it kept extending the deadline. DoPT is also headed by an IAS.
Eventually, in 2016, the IAS lobby got Parliament to amend Section 44 in just one minute, without any debate, removing the original mandatory disclosure requirements. The amendment left it to the executive to prescribe how public servants would declare their assets.
And since then, the promised rules have never been framed to make that disclosure system operational.
Now look at the Whistle Blowers Protection Act, passed in 2014.
The government withheld its implementation, claiming that amendments were necessary. When the amendment bill lapsed, the government said no amendment was needed. Yet the law has never been brought into force.
This is how transparency and anti-corruption laws are thrown into the dustbin.
Even the weakest accountability measures are perceived as threats by the IAS lobby.
The RTI Act has been butchered. IAS officers have captured the Central Information Commission.
The entire system is designed to loot citizens and provide enormous protection to the corrupt and powerful. Ordinary citizens are left powerless, paying taxes like colonial lagaan, serving bureaucratic lords and living under their arbitrary authority.
The IAS system has eaten away at this nation.
Even in Pay Commissions, IAS officer occupy key position and secure extra edge in pay among the same upsc batch other cadres, arbitrary NFU to raise their pay, promotions and career progression. They manufacture higher posts, arbitrary hierarchies and privileges, extracting every possible benefit from taxpayersโ hard-earned money.
And what do citizens get in return?
These generalists occupy leadership positions across departments without specialised knowledge, original work or measurable performance.
Wherever they go, they monopolise power, drain public resources and protect their own privileges.
India gained political independence in 1947, but the colonial administrative structure survived. British rulers were replaced by Indian bureaucratic lords, while citizens remained powerless before the same feudal machinery.
Whoever dismantles this IAS system and replaces it with democratic, professional and accountable public institutions will be a real patriot who gives India its second independence, freedom from the surviving relics of colonial rule.

How rich are India's top bureaucrats? A new report by The Indian Express reveals that 115 out of 244 self-acquired properties declared by 102 senior officials have no current valuation. The same number have no details of their size. So, how much do we really know about the wealth of those who run the government?

America is so first-world that even 5000 dollars didn't get Republicans votes.

According to World Bank's latest report, India's extreme poverty has fallen from 27.6% to just under 2.6%.
And for Indians living under Rs. 400 a day (lower middle income), it has come down from 57.7% of the population to 16.1%.
Remarkable achievement by India given the rupee depreciated and the inflationary pressure of a fast growing economy.

Seeing Clicky ride the wave of model growth is so interesting and great to see. After using it at launch and seeing its glory held back by the model, I will be 100% trying it again, but it begs the question for me.
How many failed/pivoted startups were unable to catch the wave due to idk luck? Cluely, off the top of my head would be exactly what everyone imagined if it had today's models. Looks like the fears are coming true...

Launching tomorrow!
At Amul, we have been on a mission to help Indians meet their daily protein needs, with a target of at least 1 g of protein per kg of body weight every day.
With a wide range of high protein products across categories, we are now setting our sights on a new category to help build another daily protein habit: savoury snacks.
Our challenge was to make snacking functional by delivering meaningfully high protein per serving, using the best quality protein, and keeping calories in check so that protein-rich snacking could become part of the daily diet.
It was a difficult brief. After over a year of R&D, we are excited to have cracked it!
A high protein snack with calories and protein comparable to a scoop of protein powder!
Designed for convenient on-the-go snacking yet versatile enough for you to personalise and discover your own favourite ways to enjoy it.
Weโre excited about what weโve created. Stay tuned!

Finishing is a weak point of Indian infrastructure. The causes include a combination of untrained blue-collar biomass, thekedars looking to cut costs everywhere and a general Indian trait of not clearing surroundings after work.

โIndia needs patriots, not parasitesโ
I think what is actually needed is for Indian people to actually give a damn about their cities and fellow citizens.
Anybody using the "I pay taxes, I shouldn't have to do anything" excuse should go live in another country. India isn't developed, it's developing, so it needs patriots, not parasites. If this triggers you, it means you're part of the problem.
If you're not happy with the footpath (or a pothole, or anything else which is broken), fix it, or call someone to fix it, and don't give up until it's fixed. Be relentless. Be vocal. Be creative. Make it your mission to get that one thing fixed. Look at what Virendra (@Virendra0698) did by just calling the right people and being respectful (but also persistent). He and Arun Pai (@arunpaiblrwalks) along with the help of GBA and some wonderful volunteers turned an unofficial garbage dump into a pristine, beautiful footpath through sheer force of will.

Does it bother anyone else how the members of this family communicate (or don't communicate) with each other? Negativity and entitlement just ooze from this ad everywhere.
- The first thing is the brother and sister talking rudely to each other "FINE!"
- Mom's irritated at someone for adjusting a thermostat
- "You promised French toast, bruh," ... "I'm not your bruh, bruh." ... "Fine"
- The sister sees her brother drinking milk from the jug and says, "Ugh, gross."
- She tells him French toast isn't French, and he fires back, "Yeah right, then why is it called French? Genius." She rolls her eyes and says, "Fine, live in ignorance."
- Grandpa calls and Mom shoves him over to Dad who then cuts him off with "we're a bit busy now." The grandparents go straight to insulting his beard: "We don't like the beard. Never didโฆ He looks like that actor we hate."
- Dad answers with sarcasm ("Good pep talk") and hangs up on them.
- Brother tries to impersonate his sister and text her boyfriend.
- Mom asks if anyone else is cold, and the Dad (who we learn adjusted the thermostat) lies and says "Don't know what you're talking about."
- Mom catches Dad turning down the thermostat: "I knew it!" instead of communicating...
- The older sister barks, "Mom, breathe."
- Dad asks who Asa is, and the daughter dodges: "He's aโฆ person."
- The whole family crowds around the screen to spy on the older sister at the front door
- Mom barks at Dad, "Bruno, we have to go now, like, now, now!"
- Dad doesn't remember the ice skating lessons (or she never told him) and when he finds out goes straight to "Hey honโฆ could we talk?" like he's trying to get out of it.
I mean, it demonstrates the capabilities really well. It's cool. But I feel like they could have done this from a positive, functional framing instead.
