Congratulations to @UNDP_TheGambia on the successful launch of the eMonitor+ platform through the INSPIRE Project! A timely and important initiative to strengthen electoral information integrity by enhancing national capacities to monitor misinformation, disinformation, hate speech and AI-generated content. As The Gambia approaches a critical electoral period, promoting responsible digital engagement and evidence-based communication is essential to safeguarding peaceful, credible, inclusive and transparent elections. Kudos to UNDP and all partners for this important contribution to strengthening democratic processes in The Gambia!

Empowering women through skills and economic opportunities is key to building resilient communities and sustainable livelihoods. Through the WACA Livelihoods Programme, women living along the Kotu Stream are gaining valuable food processing skills to add value to their products, increase their incomes and reduce vulnerabilities. 👏 Kudos to @ITC_Gambia for advancing women's economic empowerment and strengthening community resilience!

As his official visit to #TheGambia concluded last week, the UN expert Dr. Morris Tidball-Binz reflects on the country's significant strides and considerable progress in and advancing truth, justice and accountability. The Gambia's progress reminds us that meaningful change is possible when national commitment, institutional reform and the pursuit of justice come togethe The Gambia's journey since 2017 demonstrates the importance of truth-seeking, accountability and institutional reform in addressing past human rights violations. Yet, the true measure of progress translated in commitments into concrete justice for victims and their families, ensuring effective reparations, strengthening institutions and preventing the recurrence of such violations. The UN remains committed to supporting nationally led efforts to consolidate these gains, uphold human rights and ensure that the right to life is protected for all. Confronting the past with courage is essential to building a future grounded in justice, dignity and lasting peace. 🇬🇲🇺🇳 ohchr.org/en/press-releases/… #HumanRights #TransitionalJustice #Accountability

No woman should lose her life while giving life. Every mother deserves access to quality, dignified and lifesaving maternal healthcare. In just 6 days, #TheGambia will launch its National Roadmap for the Accelerated Reduction of Maternal Mortality, an important step towards strengthening health systems, addressing preventable maternal deaths and ensuring safer motherhood for all. The UN stands firmly alongside the Government @Presidency_GMB @MohGambia , healthcare professionals, communities and partners in turning this national commitment into measurable, lasting results. Every mother matters. Every safe birth counts. Every life saved is progress. 🇬🇲🇺🇳 #TheGambiaCares #MaternalHealth #SDG3

Timely diagnosis saves lives. If you notice changes to your breasts, such as a lump, pitting of the skin or pain, go and see a health practitioner. Most breast lumps are not cancerous. Those that are, can be more effectively treated if identified early. @WHOGAMBIA @WHO

Transitional justice is not simply about confronting the past. It is about restoring dignity, delivering justice to victims, survivors and building a future grounded in trust and reconciliation. At the 83rd @ACHPR session in Dakar, The Gambia reaffirmed its commitment to implementing the TRRC recommendations, advancing accountability, ensuring reparations for victims and strengthening national reconciliation. The UN remains firmly committed to supporting these nationally led efforts @Presidency_GMB @Gambia_MOJ @GambiaMoFA Deep appreciation to the UN Peacebuilding Fund @UNPeacebuilding for its steadfast support over the years in advancing transitional justice and sustaining peace in The Gambia. Gratitude also to all the Member States contributing to the Peacebuilding fund Together, we must translate commitments into tangible results for victims and build a more just, peaceful and accountable Gambia. Justice must be delivered, not merely promised. 🇬🇲🇺🇳 #TransitionalJustice #Peacebuilding

From truth to justice. From remembrance to reconciliation. From a difficult past to a shared future. Since 2017, #TheGambia has undertaken a remarkable transitional justice journey, one that continues to demonstrate how national ownership, the courage of victims and survivors, and sustained institutional commitment can help build the foundations for lasting peace. At #PeacebuildingWeek in New York, we launched “Never Again, in Practice: Transitional Justice and Peace in The Gambia” and the documentary “When the River Remembers Kaira.” Together, they tell this journey through the voices of those who have carried it forward: victims and survivors, women, youth, persons with disabilities, traditional and community leaders, institutions and partners. Supported by the @UNPeacebuilding Impact Hub, this work captures progress, acknowledges the challenges that remain, and draws lessons that reach far beyond The Gambia. The message is powerful: transitional justice is not only about addressing the past. It is an investment in peace, trust and the future. The Gambia’s journey continues, and its experience has much to offer the world. Thank you @ElizabethSpehar @Dabokunda @Gambia_MOJ @NHRCGambia @theANEKED and all who continue to advance this important work. #TransitionalJustice #SustainingPeace #Peacebuilding Read the full report here undp.org/gambia/publications…

Today I joined H.E Muhammed B.S Jallow @OVP_gm, @Meccnar_Gambia, @UNEP_Africa & partners for the inception workshop of #CLIMB: Climate-resilient Banjul: Enhancing Urban Resilience in the Greater Banjul Area. The Greater Banjul Area, home to over half of The #Gambia's population, faces rising floods, coastal erosion & saltwater intrusion. Over the next 6 years, CLIMB will restore ecosystems, strengthen gender-responsive urban planning, and directly benefit 350,000 people while managing 3,000 hectares for climate resilience. 👏🏿 to all stakeholders
