This ad contains disinformation about the 2020 election and Meagan Wolfe’s role as @WI_Elections commisioner, which I’ve already debunked for @PolitiFactWisc + @journalsentinel: jsonline.com/story/news/poli… – at Wisconsin, USA

I love creative tech, cultivating community, and giving talks. This past year I've been building AI apps and threw several creative tech events, incl. a hackathon at OpenAI and AI Show & Tell at NFX.
Looking for a full time role, and interested in starting convos. Please share!

The front page of tomorrow's @dailytarheel –
I shed many tears while typing up these heart-wrenching text messages sent and received by UNC students yesterday. Our campus was on lockdown for more than three hours.
Beyond proud of this cover and the team behind it.
Yesterday was an anxious hell.
But in the spirit of looking for helpers, I’m grateful to the students who shared chargers, colleagues who teamed up to secure doors, the campus Y employee who advised on exit routes and secure closets.
Let’s never #unclockdown together again.

ALT A dozen people stand and sit in a small basement space. Some hold backpacks. Their faces are covered by heart emojis. A caption reads “if I had to start my last week at UNC in lockdown, I’m glad it was with this random group of students and staff who happened to be at the Campus Y. Lots of small kindnesses and care for each other in our three hours barricaded in an airless basement.”

What NOT to do in election reporting.
Providing accurate information is one aspect of good reporting. But especially around elections, good journalism MUST provide context and connect experts and explainers to their audiences.
The alternative is to become conspiracy fodder.
1. 🧵How 1 reporter started a MAGA panic over voting in Ohio yesterday
It began with a video tweet, wherein a reporter declared, "ALL ballot scanners are down & not working at Cuyahoga Falls polling location." xitter.cf/MikeHoldenNews/status/…

A self-fulfilling prophecy...states say they're leaving ERIC because other states are leaving ERIC.
“As fewer states are participating, the costs are increasing and the amount of data we’re going to receive will be reduced,” Pierce said. texas.votebeat.org/2023/7/20…
