Recently, we generated proof-of-concept for a DNA methylation based test for CUP diagnosis @VIB_CMB, @ugent & @uzgent. Now, we start a collaborative @komop_tgkanker project with @UAntwerpen & UZA to refine the method and implement in clinical practice.
🔬 Cancers of Unknown Primary (CUP) are difficult to treat. New work by @kdpreter and colleagues at @VIB_CMB, @UAntwerpen, @uzgent, and UZA provides a foundation for a DNA methylation to improve diagnosis.

Our paper on diagnosis of pediatric brain tumors using methylation profiling of cfDNA from cerebrospinal fluid is out now. While very promising, there are still some challenges ahead in the context of CSF collection and low tumoral fractions:
