Unlike the European explorers, Selim tended to balance the negative with the positive In this, his narrative style resembled Ibn Battuta's rather than Henry Morton Stanley *also, that's not his picture
thinking about the swahili guy that visited russia and wrote an ethnographic report to send back home in the same way european explorers did with various african peoples

Thank you for 40 years of shared memories. We can’t wait to make even more together with The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel. Development continues, and while it’ll be some time before we’re ready to share more, it feels great to finally reveal the name and location with you.

1. First of all ,I am an individual. Don't group me with any one here. I'd appreciate it if I wasn't tagged on every sub tweet. Whether done in malice or good faith it contributes towards the deligetimazation of the institution that is being built to promote civic consciousness as its own end goal. 2. These baseless accusations thrown in a blanket way are meant against the institution and not against individuals as it may seem. 3. A group of young folks meeting to freely discuss issues of the day is the very essence of civil society. By virtue of what we do ,we are theoretically a target of the state. For people to come here and claim we are regime apologists is not only ironic but is a very twisted way of including us in conversations that are actually being monitored by the state. I know some people have Moi era trauma , but why do you want to see random people persecuted by the state? That's a very dark and satanic energy! 4. Anyone is welcome to apply to conduct a discussion. While most of us organizers lean right,we have had out right left speakers as just an example of how open the space is. 5. Some people get on here to argue as an exercise for social stratification and not to make a point. So I insist I don't want to be tagged on subs. If anyone has a problem with something I have said, address it on my tweet. Kaful is open. 6. Funny thing is you're grouping uscabd we don't agree on everything - examples include economic theory, dating theory, systems of government, historical interpretations etc. I argue with my beloved mutuals more than strangers on here. So ukilemewa kwa arguement kila siku don't chimp out and start attacking an institution being built from the comfort of wherever you hide while doing nothing with the civil rights you have. Hakuna mtu anaitwa sophists.

David Ndii on Kenya's National Infrastructure Fund (NIF) and the growth needed to sustain it: — Kenya targets ~$10B (KES 1.3T) in infrastructure deals by Q1 2027. A ~$1.5B (KES 195B) airport deal has reportedly closed, with a ~$1.5B highway concession, power projects and a major railway investment in the pipeline. — The NIF aims to mobilise ~$40B (KES 5T) over 10 years, shifting major infrastructure investments off the national budget. — Infrastructure spending accounts for ~1.5 percentage points of Kenya's ~5.5% fiscal deficit. Alternative financing could ease fiscal pressure. — Kenyans spent ~KES 500B on infrastructure services in 2025, equivalent to 3.1% of GDP, including KES 225B on electricity, KES 210B on transport and roads, and KES 65B on water and sewerage. — KES 5T in new infrastructure would require ~KES 1T in annual revenue: ~10% for operations and maintenance and ~10% for debt servicing and investor returns. — Ndii estimates Kenya's economy must triple to over KES 50T within a decade, requiring ~6.5% annual real GDP growth, to generate sufficient infrastructure revenue. — He identifies four growth drivers: export-led agriculture, BPO and IT-enabled services, regional financial and logistics services, and industrial investment in green manufacturing, mining and mineral processing.

Derivative = Fin. contract whose value is derived from underlying asset Future = derivative that obligates buyer/seller to transact underlying asset at agreed price on specified future date Option = derivative that gives the right BUT not the obligation to buy or sell
💡 Still confused about Derivatives? Here’s the simplest explanation you’ll hear today! 👇 Simply put, a derivative is an agreement to buy or sell an underlying asset at a specified price on a future date. Whether traded Over-The-Counter (OTC) or Exchange-Traded through platforms like the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), derivatives allow investors to trade across time rather than just on the spot market. Save this for your investment journey! 📌 #Derivatives #EquityFutures #NSE #FinancialLiteracy #CapitalMarkets

Lunar dust is jagged because nothing on the Moon wears it down. Mars dust has been tumbled by wind for ages, so spacesuit swatches on Perseverance showed little wear after 1,645 Martian days. The catch: some grains are fine enough to cling to suits and reach deep into lungs.

Ludwig von Mises built the intellectual case against central planning so thoroughly that his critics never actually refuted it. They ignored it, mocked it, then watched the Soviet Union collapse in 1991, confirming every word. His 1920 paper on socialist calculation cut to the bone: without private property and genuine price signals, planners fly blind. Prices carry information no committee can replicate. Kill the market, kill the signal, and you get Soviet bread lines and Venezuelan grocery shelves stripped bare. Mises lived this. He fled Vienna in 1940 with the Nazis closing in, arrived in New York nearly broke, and rebuilt his career at NYU largely without a paid faculty position. The establishment academia of his era dismissed him because he made their Keynesian comfort too expensive to keep. Human Action, published in 1949, remains the most comprehensive defense of individual liberty and market order ever written. You live inside an economy shaped by bad ideas Mises systematically destroyed, but nobody told you.

Somalia has always imagined that AMISOM/ATMIS troops were there to do the hard work for them then leave them a proper country. So much so that the very citizens who are the primary beneficiaries of the peace had the gal the reffer to East African troops as their slaves.
Omg! What an embarrassment. Uganda 🇺🇬 is effectively saying: for the last 18 years, we have been protecting your capital and your high-value targets, including the presidential compound, parliament, ministry buildings and airport, while supporting Mogadishu. Yet you have failed to use that time to build an indigenous fighting force capable of defending your own country. The answer to Uganda is that Mogadishu has spent much of those 18 years cannibalising and undermining the very thing that gave it a chance of survival and political revival: #Puntland. Instead of strengthening federalism, Mogadishu has worked relentlessly to destroy it. Today, without Uganda, the future security of Mogadishu is uncertain. What makes the situation even more extraordinary is Uganda’s apparent position that unless Mogadishu pays what the United States has been contributing, an agreement on continued support may be difficult to reach. This comes after reports that more than 300 SNA troops were wiped out over the past week. Meanwhile, Villa Somalia is running around praising Turkey 🇹🇷 and treating its security guarantees as some sort of insurance policy against the forces threatening its collapse. We have seen Turkish weapons fail to deliver the promised results. We have seen Turkish training fail to translate into battlefield effectiveness. We have seen a lack of Turkish support for aerial surveillance, alongside a chain of command undermined by tribalism, nepotism and political interference. With the United Nations 🇺🇳 ending its mission tomorrow and reports that Uganda could withdraw completely by the end of November, South Somalia is facing a security reality for which it appears dangerously unprepared. And yet, amid all this, we still have delusional people preaching nationalism while refusing to confront the consequences of the political choices that brought them here.

Replying to @coryswan
But crypto was supposed to be better than banks. Seems critics were right in that cryptos aren't any better nor safer than the traditional banks they claimed to surpass
