we end with an inspiring message from @keyvanv's 5-year old son for all the budding scientists in the room. Even though things can be messy and hard, his message for us? "Enjoy Science!" 😍

There are situations in which people can be incentivised to work together even if collaboration diminishes the prospects of the project.

Remote work fuels siloed work. Evidence from 60,000+ U.S. Microsoft employees in first 6 months of 2020:
Cross-group connections dropped
Within-group connections increased
Frozen in time: Added fewer new collaborators, shed fewer old ones

🚨🚨NEW PUBLICATION🚨🚨 When two people co-author, each person might get more than 70% of the credit for the joint work. Intuitively, academics know this. Collaboration means more papers, which means more credit and this increases the odds of getting tenure, winning grants, etc.
🥳NEW PAPER OUT🥳 (with @MBikard and @florentaT)
TLDR: People sometimes collaborate even when collaboration is bad for the project and they know it! Why? Because they get more credit than if they work on the project alone!
A thread 👇
This paper has been in the working for a long while. The only reason it’s out is because of the amazing coauthors @florentaT and @MBikard who each contributed 80% to the final paper.
