Understanding p-values is not difficult, but it does take more time (say 2 hours initially, rehearsing it 4 times for 30 minutes) than people invest, which is the only barrier to getting people to understand them. This material should be all you need. lakens.github.io/statistical…
would prefer that @ASHAWeb not use our dues to advertise on this website tbh
Protip: if you are responding to a rejection, and particularly if you are asking an editor for a reconsideration of a rejected manuscript, wait until you can do it politely. This could be a subtweet

The Doctrine of Charity asks us to assume virtuous intent. To assume the best of others.
When someone says something, what is the best they could have meant (instead of assuming the worst)?

I’m not against AI being integrated into these tools but people really have no idea what they want or why they want it. Everyone, from implementation down to end-use, feels like they are relying on someone else’s reasoning for why it’s a good idea.

We tend to think of a lung as a simple pump: one gas is pulled in, another is pushed out. That isn’t the case—with each of the roughly 20,000 breaths we take in a day, air travels through convoluted passages that can stretch for 1,500 miles. nyer.cm/v9O5dDR

I was a journal editor as a student, and have submitted multiple articles as a professor. I’ve never heard of an instance of a journal accepting a piece with someone’s name as a “placeholder” and then later substituting the “real authors.”

Experience and skills matter. Everyone should have the ability to secure their place in the middle class.
Me too! 👍
Thank you to @realDrRuth and @kfnagle and all who shared an hour at the SHU Center for Faculty Development conversation about Using Social Media to Promote Research and Networking! I enjoyed sharing and learning with everyone.
