They are trying to do enclosure on gamers: strip them of the means of gaming, privatize and accumulate the memory as capital, and then require the gamertariat to rent the memory so the capitalist can extract monopoly profits.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman thinks it's "terrible" for people to have RAM in their computers rather than in a data center, as the scarcity of memory caused by the AI boom continues to drive up costs. bit.ly/47LJ09d

Marxist economist @profdavidharvey on Abdul El-Sayed's defense of capitalism & choice to quote Adam Smith:
"Why is the incentive profit?...Yeah it's nice to have competition, but competition about what? Competition about having the best healthcare system in the world? No. Competition about higher education?...No. Competition to do what? Competition to make a profit. And it's the whole profit side of things that's absolutely crucial. And that's what has to be controlled."

New: An NYPD spokesperson confirms the police department no longer plans to enter into a no-bid contract with a controversial Israeli surveillance tech company — a reversal that comes after the procurement drew pushback from Mayor Mamdani's allies and civil rights advocates.

Congratulations to Zohran Mamdani for earning the role of Special Client for the Palestine Laboratory. Combined with his work as the Antisemitism Czar, the Buffer Zone Officer, and the Tisch family butler, his LinkedIn must be looking 🔥!
⚡️ Mayor Zohran Mamdani's NYPD is poised to sign a three-year, $750,500 no-bid contract with Israeli surveillance firm Cognyte for FalcoNet, an AI-driven device that mimics a cell tower to track phones and can be mounted on police cars and drones or hidden in a backpack, the New York Daily News reported.
Cognyte won a tender to sell intercept spyware to Myanmar's state telecom weeks before the 2021 military coup, Reuters previously reported. Meta banned the firm the same year, saying its customers used fake accounts to target journalists and politicians in Kenya, Mexico and Indonesia.
The firm is part of an Israeli surveillance industry that grew big as a result of the military's monitoring of Palestinians, whose phone calls Israel's Unit 8200 has intercepted and stored by the millions, including to carry out genocide in Gaza and enforce a brutal illegal occupation in Jerusalem and the West Bank.

Communists who avoid DSA because of its rightist posture should know that I was *two* votes away from losing my delegate election. All over the city, there are dozens of Left candidates that would’ve made the cut if just one or two more comrades voted for them. Join DSA today!

After promising to commit to public housing on the campaign trail, Zohran Mamdani's NYC is now backing a developer-friendly demolition and privatization plan to displace thousands of working-class New Yorkers and hand over public land to billionaire Steve Ross
Despite pushback from his own DSA allies, the Mamdani admin has doubled down on the project, calling it "innovative"
Now, Fulton, Elliott, and Chelsea Houses in Manhattan are slated for demolition and redevelopment, shifting residents from Section 9 public housing to Section 8. More than 2,000 residents now face displacement, with elderly tenants among those most immediately threatened.
"This is a land grab! We have 4 white men in a room making decisions for us! Y'all need to stop this nonsense. Mamdani is not working for the people, he's working for the damn developers!"
