October 1: The Shining (1980) + Doctor Sleep Director's Cut (2019). Decided to start with a twofer, Stanley Kubrick's classic OG and Mike Flanagan's intertwined sequel, both based upon novels published by Stephen King.

October 24: Elvira's MTV Halloween Party (1984), a nostalgic five hour TV special featuring music videos, commercials, and the 1968 film Night of the Living Dead, presented by Elvira. Available to watch on YouTube and Internet Archive.

October 23: Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977). A surreal paranormal / supernatural semi-horror film that took big risks that didn't pay off at the box office. While not amazing, I like that they tried something different.

October 22: The Black Scorpion (1957). A creature feature in the style of Them!, with cool stop-motion animation effects by Willis O'Brien. The story and characters play second fiddle to the monsters, but it's a fun romp.

October 21: His House (2020), a folk horror thriller from British filmmaker Remi Weekes. A migrant drama at it's core, the protagonists are subjected to supernatural horrors while also having to deal with the ghosts of their past.

October 20: Saw II (2005). I enjoyed Saw (2004) as a clever horror thriller, where Saw II just assaults your senses and feels more like a loud and gory music video. Interesting set pieces, but I didn't gel with the characters.

2026 October 19: Hokum (2026). A mixed bag of folklore and supernatural horror, Hokum was entertaining but did have some odd, and often unfathomable, real world plot and continuity issues. The twisty whodunit angle is good though.

October 18: Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story (2026). A gothic horror, dark comedy, sexual melodrama series that plays fast and loose with history and facts. I really enjoyed it though, even the side stories flip flopping between eras.

October 17: Attack of the 50 Foot Woman (1958). Now considered a cult classic, this independently made science fiction horror film is certainly entertaining, even if the production values weren't exactly up to scratch.

October 16: Mimic (1997). Directed by Guillermo del Toro, Mimic is science-fiction creature feature horror film, with some great practical effects and a few CGI fails. Overall, it's fun and pretty creepy in parts.

October 15: Backrooms (2026) directed and co-scored by Kane Parsons. I knew what I was getting in to after following EVERYTHING Backrooms related since 2022. Watched this a few time now, and it's packed full of details and Backrooms lore.
