The 10 largest Dem-run cities (NYC, LA, Chicago, Houston, Phoenix, Philly, San Antonio, San Diego, Jacksonville, Austin) average higher violent crime rates (~600-900 per 100k from recent FBI data) than the 10 largest Rep-run ones (Dallas, Fort Worth, Oklahoma City, Fresno, Mesa, Virginia Beach, Bakersfield and next largest). Rates alone show Rep-run city residents safer on average. City size, density and demographics drive most differences more than mayor party.
