One of the most prominent features of the National Archives are the 72 Corinthian columns that encircle the building. Each limestone column stands 53 feet high, 5 feet 8 inches in diameter, and weighs 95 tons.

Jeremy Brett: “James Bond is the sort of role you cannot afford to turn down, but I think if I had got it, it would have spoiled me.”
Brett was apparently one of ten actors interviewed by Cubby Broccoli for the role after George Lazenby left.
Wrapped in Burberry
To celebrate 170 years, Burberry gathers at Longleat House, where hosts Pierce Brosnan and Fiona Shaw welcome friends of the house, including Cara Delevingne, Dylan Brosnan, Kim Min-ha, Nico Parker, Wu Lei, Dwyane Wade, Gabrielle Union and Emma Thynn, Marchioness of Bath

on the one hand, I don't really believe that someone who is as much of a void of charisma as Callum Turner could be cast as James Bond. on the other hand, I remembered that Denis Villeneuve, who has all the humor and panache of an expired tin of tuna, was directing the new one.

Get ready for the worst acting you’ve ever seen

This is the first Halloween since 1997 that I haven't had a black cat in the house.
RIP Molly, Minnie and Fozzie.

Something you may not know about Harry Houdini, who died 100 years ago today: He left his library — one of the world’s largest private collections of books on magic, witchcraft, demonology, spiritualism and psychic phenomena – to the Library of Congress. blogs.loc.gov/loc/2026/10/de…

The subtext of the James Bond search is the extent to which the modern star system has ceased creating charismatic masculine movie stars.

Look what dark beauty arrived today. Trying co complete my set whenever I come across them.
Detail: you see them often enough, but those richly decorated bindings to the left have two alternates: one with the lower placed publishers name in gold; the second variant in black. The ones in gold are scarce.

A baseball player on the @Brewers is Jake Bauers. One of my German ancestors, Jacob Bauer, came to Milwaukee in the 1850s. Several children were born there before the family moved to Illinois.
Not to be confused with this Jack Bauer
Much discourse about casting James Bond in 2005. It is not true that Daniel Craig was always known to be the successor to Pierce Brosnan.
Documentation here, from the 007 website I began in 1994.

I literally have the receipts. I was tracking this on my 007 website at the time, it's up on archive.org
Daniel Craig was not mentioned as a potential James Bond until September 2005.

Can't really get excited about the James Bond casting and screentests, if there's nothing to indicate they are even able to write significant Bond stories today.
IMHO Bond is over since many, many years.
(lifelong fan who even wrote a book on Bond)
What to you think?
