It is absolutely crazy that it's been almost a year since I have had to fight any bugs, broken environments, or figure out why a piece of software refuses to do a thing it claims to do.
Shit just works now.
I have a feeling there’s a low chance of normal people building & running bespoke software with AIs, but I do think the few of us who do will be doing so for our friends.
Giving in to LLMs programming my home assistant and custom dashboard has opened up some wild future of home automation. Like "Add a button to the lights screen that dims the kitchen lights to the rest of the house" and… it just does everything and there's a new button!
No fancy setup. Just a folder with a token in .env.
Doing rad stuff with your friends is the cure to a lot of ailments no one will ever diagnose you of having.
Part of me wonders how software companies are building software now, because the shit I'm able to conjure at a whim is 10x more than I ever wanted out of an internal proposal.
Like, PRs and Issues don't even support embedded HTML do they? And you're all still using Slack!???
I suppose more context: this has interactive decision markers (like confirm rails 8?) that use localstorage to let me document my decisions and eventually send those decisions back to the llm via a copy text button.
Everything can have an interactive interface if you want.
Opus 5.5's dedication to actually testing (using) the things it builds is incredible. Noticing miniscule discrepancies in fixture data for a fun showcase page is 👌
