utd need to stop confusing giving managers time with having a plan. what exactly is the point of patience if there’s no concerted effort to address a manager’s shortcomings? carrick needs room to grow, but time alone won’t make him a better coach.

perhaps carrick needs a stronger coaching staff, people who can challenge his ideas, offer tactical alternatives & help him maximise the squad. developing a manager should be part of the process, not just finding one and hoping he figures everything out.

utd can support carrick w/o absolving him of responsibility. strengthen his coaching staff, give him the tools to improve & hold him accountable. patience & accountability aren't mutually exclusive, nor is backing a manager while questioning whether he's maximising his squad.

amorim practically forced utd’s hand to sack him, so this shouldn’t surprise anyone. carrick gets another chance to learn from his mistakes. he needs tactical alternatives, real width & players who buy into his ideas, even if it means trusting academy lads over established names
