I feel like an underrated aspect to the Yugi Twin's relationship is how(seemingly, of course) they looked to have had a geneuinly good, close relationship for almost their entire lives, and things only started to really sour after they actually started attending Kamome Academy.+

this entire sequence is rather tragic to me. i think it was interesting of aidairo to offer commentary on how the terminally ill (particularly those who are young) are treated in a way which limits them to their illness, as though they will never be anything more than that. 1/3
mei could not simply enjoy pancakes without being reminded or having others be reminded of her impending death,, and i think this in turn gives nene the strength to realise that she should not define herself by her lifespan,, in the same way mei refused to succumb to fatalism
