Well no… Freddie was always very open to the fact that he liked Carly and in the original they dated for a few eps and Freddie basically stopped it bc he wanted them to be together later and they also canonically kiss in the finale of the original

i wasn't the biggest fan when they announced mckenna as daphne (she is a great actress but not what i had in mind for her at first) but after seeing how passionate she is about the role, i'm really excited
