For @_reallifemag, I wrote about Wechat stickers and public secrecy, feelings as tradeable objects on the Chinese internet, and the hopeful new forms of relationality that lazy ducks reveal:

Wrote a little intro to this excerpt from @yilingliu95's new book, reflecting on Chinese hip-hop's strange decade and the tendency for "cultural freeze frames" in English writing on Chinese contemporary culture.
An excerpt from @yilingliu95’s "The Wall Dancers”, about how the internet made — and then unmade — Chinese hip-hop: “Kafe once aspired to be like Kendrick Lamar, who was commercially popular but also spoke truth to power. That would no longer be possible.“ equator.org/articles/have-mo…
Excited to be part of @ASFFest this November as part of the Official Selection!

"Don’t Get Your Hopes Up may be a strange and fantastical tale, but it’s also a brutally honest representation of what it’s like to be adrift in a housing market that’s designed for the wealthy." - thank you @paulavaynshteyn!
Don't Get Your Hopes Up is a visual novel set amid a housing rental crisis, relatable to anyone who has ever experienced the desperation that comes from having to find a new home in a hurry.
@krishraghav has created something truly special here.

Excited to announce that my videogame, Don't Get Your Hopes Up, is out Tue Sep 16!
A short game about housing shortage and horror in architecture. A wayward history of Amsterdam. A weird, disquieting, experimental non-fiction piece.
Free on Steam/itch store.steampowered.com/app/3…

“Today, we can expect a parade of treacly sycophantism, brazen sociopathy, and humanist admonishment. They write for their mark” - @palyouthmvmt address this date with the clarity it deserves thenewinquiry.com/one-year/
Roll credits on 九日 Nine Sols. An incredible (and brutal) game. I knew Red Candle wouldn't let me down. Lots to unpack here betn themes of regret, justice, belonging and conciliation. A lot to criticize too (the Shuanshuan arc in particular), but truly a spectacular achievement.
My mixtape series from last year (link in tweet below) got mentioned on @matoswk75's interview with @mountain_goats and I'm so moved by the kindness and depth of engagement shown to my small personal project. Thank you so much ❤️ michaelangelo.substack.com/p…

One of my 2023 resolutions was to explore connections betn the music of my childhood (Tamil pop) + music that influenced me (sinophone indie) to music in my new home (Netherlands)
So I made a mix (w/ notes) that goes from Ilaiyaraaja to Charlotte Adigéry
