I've joined @AnthropicAI to lead AI Fluency! Over the past year, as I've been writing about AI full-time, it became very clear to me that there was a huge gap in the way people learn to use these tools. I used to say that learning to use AI is more like learning to manage people than it is like learning to use Excel. But I think it's even broader than that. On one hand, people say that "taste is the only moat remaining." If that's true, what does it mean for education? As I've written, "When AI takes on more of the execution, knowledge workers function more like art directors. They curate the references that shape the work, and determine whether the resulting work meets their standard. Fortunately, there is a type of institution that excels at training exactly that: art school." So that's one area I've been digging into: how do you teach people clarity about what they want, and what they like? How do you help leaders develop a vision for the future that inspires, and then make that vision a reality? On the other hand, it feels a bit naive to suggest that as AI starts impacting our world in weirder and weirder ways, the global population can simply art-school their way out of massive shocks to their livelihoods and sense of self. So what then? How will we not just survive but thrive in the future? Taken together, this is AI fluency -- the product-and-model-agnostic set of skills, mindsets, and behaviors that help people live well with AI. What are these skills? What is the best way to teach them at scale? How do we measure and validate that it's working? These are the questions I aim to answer. If this is something you have thoughts on, reach out! I would love to hear them.

An apt day to remember that Dolly Parton once recorded a cover of Stairway to Heaven - and, in defiance of every moral law in the universe, she absolutely owned it.
