We're going to see a plethora of existing ops/CI tools become Lambda compatible, as well as completely new tools that highlight how low the barrier to entry is now.
The future of serverless ops is bright.

LambCI launched mid-2016: it's fascinating to read back and see what's changed (and how little hasn't) since. At the time I wrote "the future of serverless ops is bright". With the launch of container images and huge compute, this is even more true now. hichaelmart.medium.com/lambc…

Grab a sneak peak of GitHub Actions running on Lambda in my re:Invent dev chat which is now live. Things have been a little chaotic recently (thanks us-east-1), so the project's not quite ready for public consumption. But soon! 🤞 virtual.awsevents.com/media/…

So literally the second it ticks over to my birthday, I'm giving a talk at AWS re:Invent 🎉 Which I've never been to. Because it always falls on my birthday. Tune in to see a sneak peak of GitHub Actions running on Lambda with @lamb_ci! 👀🐑

Coming soon to LambCI: Serverless GitHub Actions 🚀 (Lambda, Cloud Run, Fargate, CodeBuild, Azure Container Instances, etc). Run hundreds of self-hosted runners without paying for idle instances. Watch this space 👀
Why would you want this over hosted GH Actions?
1. More (much moar) concurrency, no queueing 🚀
2. Per-second (or ms) billing, on your cloud account ⏱
3. Use IAM to access your cloud resources 🔒
4. Access to different instance sizes/capabilities (eg GPUs) 👩👩👧👦

What's extra nice about this is that Cloud Run lets you use mem as disk space – which is huge for many workloads (including serverless CI!) Cloud Run is looking better at running @lamb_ci than Lambda is rn 🙊

With the release of aws-lambda-builders 1.0, the docker-lambda build images have been updated 🎉. They also now use pipx for global python binaries. If you run into troubles, the old images are at lambci/lambda:20200719-build-${RUNTIME}

I've created a new tool to make it super easy to copy to/from your EFS filesystems, without messing around with mounts and VPC tunnelling and stuff. Check out cmda! github.com/lambci/cmda

"Imagine an application that would normally take 1 hour to run on a single machine… What if instead you could spin up 3600 lambdas that each run for one second to return near instantaneous results" 🤯

As AWS is rolling out some changes to Lambda runtimes across different regions, we're seeing some issues with ppl who have built python functions, specifically with the `chardet` package...
New build-python* images have been pushed up that should address this, but if you need the old ones, you can access them at 20200512-build-python*. See github.com/lambci/docker-lam… for more info.
