For The Post, @abi_whist and I travelled the length and breadth of Merseyside to find the tastiest sweet treats and sourdough loaves across Merseyside. It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it... livpost.co.uk/the-bakery-ran…

Jonny Blackburn and Ethan Penny *are* The Post right now: the liquid-metal reporters to my clanking, clumsy T-800. This is Jonny's third piece just this week and it's a great read! 25 comments already; let us know what you think. livpost.co.uk/can-the-beatle…

I have always cherished Danny Dyer's response to this film's critical drubbing: "Well, it can't all be fackin' Fellini, can it?"

I once chinned (beaked?) a seagull that dive-bombed me in West Kirby. Twice I've had Greggs nicked by gulls on Exchange Flags. One shat on me in Whitechapel. I saw another eating a rabbit on Bixteth Street. So I'm quite envious Jonny got to do this story. livpost.co.uk/whats-behind-l…

We need to educate Americans about Britain's "sausage renaissance" and heroes like Bill O'Hagan, who helped change watery "bangers" into proper food.
I was mocking the awful British sausage to her face when my English friend said she’d prove me wrong. Next morning she cooked a Full English for us (me, her husband, and daughter). The sausage was great. She said it was Cumberland. Still not okay with their baked beans.

This is risible, especially from a broadsheet newspaper: none of these are obscure films. And Tokyo Story came out in 1953, not 1972. Ozu died in '63, for fuck's sake.

Rare photo of Roger Scruton in Paris, May 1968.

I'm sorry, but calling Ben Davison a "PE teacher" is incredibly disrespectful. He'd never qualify for that.

Recently sat down to watch The Lady Vanishes, starring the delightful Margaret Rutherford. Except Rutherford isn't in it, and never was: "the lady" is played by May Whitty. Someone else I spoke to also erroneously remembers Rutherford in the film. Is this a Mandela effect?

Speaking as a fan of pulp lit, if you're gonna call yourself "Tarzan" handling a python is entry level tbh.
Influencer Tarzan grappled with a giant 19-foot, 200-pound python and almost lost 😳 “I’m a blue belt in jiu-jitsu, but f*ck, this snake’s a black belt in the jungle… Jesus Christ, that was close.”

Guy Davenport has a good essay on this, if I remember correctly. Shelley was a different class to everyone bar Keats, "as far above [Walter Savage] Landor as Landor was above Byron," as one critic put it.
in 1817, awaiting the arrival of a massive statue of Ramesses II (known in greek as Ozymandias) at British shores, Percy Shelley and Horace Smith proposed a duel, to see who could write a better sonnet inspired by the statue and an inscription. A generational mogging ensued.

A big hand for my new colleague Jonny Blackburn, who has already transitioned superbly to The Post's style with this thoughtful magazine-style feature. livpost.co.uk/are-we-finally…

And then, of course, there was this from Sophie. A real "swan" story as the graceful delivery completely belies the effort and dedication that went into it. livpost.co.uk/liverpool-hous…

Anyway, it's my day off today, so I'll stop being a complete jobsworth. But just wanted to draw attention to the fact that there's maybe never been a better time to be reading The Post. Sign up if you haven't already!
