.@StateDept updated 13 travel advisories throughout the Middle East to "reflect an increase in potential armed attacks by the Iranian-supported Houthis and Iranian efforts to target U.S. government officials in the region." A State Department Official adds that "The possibility of regional effects [of Houthi attacks], including the potential for flight disruptions, makes a region-wide advisory update important and prudent." The Official also notes ongoing warnings about Iranian drones and missiles, and says "We have consistently messaged to Americans on the threat from Iran and will continue to do so." travel.state.gov/en/internat…

Terrible scenes of destruction caused by heavy flooding in Ayazağa, northern #Istanbul. Individual business owners told me they had lost tens of thousands of dollars in stock, which they are having to throw away. The flood waters have now receded, but Istanbul is left picking up the pieces. #Turkey #Türkiye

Thank you to Lizzie Porter for including my assessment in her reporting for The National. @TheNationalNews The key risk in Türkiye–Azerbaijan relations is not disagreement itself, but the gradual erosion of public trust through mutual accusations. Preserving strategic ties requires political prudence on both sides. @lcmporter

An effective headscarf ban in schools is an effort by #Azerbaijan to suppress "Arab-Persian values” from the country's secular system. Ally #Turkey, with its own complex history of headscarf bans, criticised the move. What happened? My attempt to explain. thenationalnews.com/news/men…

To be clear: Some facts are neither in dispute nor unclear. Our photographer was clearly marked as Press. She was clearly beaten. These are not partisan or risible statements, but indisputable. We urge a thorough investigation and accountability.
The Prime Minister’s Office: The facts surrounding the confrontation near Abu Falah, during which Washington Post photojournalist Heidi Levine was allegedly assaulted, remain unclear and are under investigation. Israel unequivocally condemns violence against anyone—Jews, Arabs, Christians or journalists. Those responsible will be held accountable. But serious questions remain. Reports indicate some 200 Arabs and far-left activists confronted approximately 40 Israeli youths. Footage shows masked individuals on both sides hurling objects, amid reports of fireworks fired at Jewish youths. Other footage appears to show Levine knocked down and immediately helped to her feet by the same unidentified individual. The investigation must establish the facts, including who initiated the violence. We will not allow disputed incidents to be exploited to demonize the hundreds of thousands of law-abiding Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria. The facts must determine the conclusions. Not the headlines.
