Replying to @VitalikButerin
One of @VitalikButerin's greatest traits is his approach to decision making. When an issue arises, he listens and gathers information, weighs it all and makes a decision when he believes that he has weighed most of the necessary data. Best path forward is to realize that he has heard all of us and things are in motion.
Threats of harm or attempts at coersion are deeply distrubing and will be counterproductive.
There are multiple threads in process in the EF, the EEA and Consensys that will reformat how Ethereum "goes-to-market" in the near term.
And based on what I am seeing there will be so many high value initiatives that become public soonish, that your heads will spin. Best to keep them on your shoulders and not lose them before a surge begins.

I want Ethereum to win and win big - no half measures.
It should all be built on Ethereum - the most decentralized world computer that's secured by ETH - the most decentralized programmable commodity money in existence.
We can be "zen" in 50 years once we've won it all.

This is why rollups lose btw.
Not just to Solana, but to high performance altDA chains and/or Based rollups.
• MegaETH will cater to the Solana/Hyperliquid UX crowd.
• Based rollups will cater to the Ethereum maxis who want mainnet to scale and their L1 assets to be composable - just with better UX.
Rollups will forever have their upper bound in performance be capped by Ethereum upgrade iteration speed and I'm exceedingly skeptical they keep up with global demand.
Again; look at these numbers.
THE COMBINATION OF ALL ROLLUPS IN 2027 WILL BE DOING THE SAME TPS AS SOLANA TODAY.
Solana will not stop IBRL'ing between now and then. Hell, they have Firedancer and Async execution in the roadmap for 2025. Even if we push that to 2026 and account for the time it'll take for FD validators to get enough stake that's still literally hundreds of times more performant.
Lol. lmao even.
Additional trust assumptions should not be taken lightly, but MegaETH is coming to do the lifting that ~all of the current top L2s are going to have a very hard time doing without breaking aLiGnMeNt.
Base is being openly hyper aggressive with their scaling ambitions, opting for a GETH as a new client and pushing their current throughput by 1MGas/s/wk, but it doesn't matter how hard they push because they'll always be capped by Ethereum blobspace.
They will either fall beyond the performance race or break away from Ethereum blobs as DA - there is no two ways about it on this current trajectory.
Again, I remind you of the scale we're talking about here. Our target is to hit mainnet in the not-so-distant future with the ability to handle ~2GGas/s of throughput, and ambitions to scale to double-digits quickly.
Current top capacity L2s on @growthepie_eth, pictured:
Hitting these targets comes with trade-offs, but if Ethereum wants to compete in the high performance arena then this is how it has to be done. At least in any timeframe measured in months.
We're coming bros.

$DRV token finally launches in 10 hours. built on the back of the largest options dex and top 10 perps venue
Hope @nickforster gonna make me rich
most of these projects will be gone and forgotten in 1 months
i bet you $DRV (bottom) will be leading this category when it launches on Wednesday
absolutely cracked team been following and supporting them for over a year
I'm really waiting for this token $DRV
Gud thread by @0xBreadguy
One of the most active people in the @megaeth ecosystem.
It's actually more scaling pragmatism than pure cost savings, but that does play a role.
Here's why @megaeth chose @eigen_da instead of blobs (TLDR: We'll have too much capacity)
First you have to understand a few things:
🔹WTF is DA?
🔹How chain throughput correlates to DA needs
🔹Impact of those needs
🔹Ethereum vs AltDA Capacity
-----------------------------------------
WTF is DA?
teapawt.net/0xBreadguy/status/1841…
Read the above if you want longform, but the TLDR for L2s is:
- The chain need to store all of the data it produces (i.e. transactions) somewhere so that it can be checked for correctness by others.
-----------------------------------------
Chain Throughput -> DA Needs
Lets use Base as an example.
Base is currently averaging ~20MGas/s throughput, which translates to ~8.5M transactions per day.
When these tx are bundled and compressed in to blobs this equates to ~40,000 KB/hr (11.11 KB/s) of data being pushed to Ethereum.
Put simply:
If Base produces more tx, it will push out more data to be stored on Ethereum.
-----------------------------------------
Impact of Those Needs
Okay, so if Base keep growing it'll require more data. Cool - how does that impact the me?
TLDR: If Base data needs grow faster than Ethereum's ability to ingest that data, median user tx fees increase.
Blobspace has the exact same 1559 pricing mechanism as Ethereum blockspace. When >50% is utilized price goes up (exponentially in the case of blobs).
That means as Base scales and pushes blobspace to it's limits, everyone is forced to pay more across all rollups.
It's shared pricing and is the reason why things have previously become weird around airdrops on certain rollups.
> Mass tx event
> Saturate blobs
> All rollups now have higher costs
-----------------------------------------
Ethereum vs AltDA Capacity
Okay, so what are the limits we're talking about here?
First I'll remind everyone of Base data requirements right now: ~11.11KB/s.
Now lets look at the current DA capacity landscape:
You're reading that right:
Ethereum's current capacity is 32KB/s, meaning Base already consumes ~1/3rd by itself and prices increase exponentially at that number.
When combined with all other rollups, Ethereum is already at that 32KB/s line, which is why we're seeing so much PVP there. Teams don't want to pay more, so they're compressing more and optimizing posting times to avoid costs.
Now, we're expecting some modest blob limit increases with Pectra, but if global demand for blockspace outpaces that then L2 teams are stuck in a thorny position of either shifting from Ethereum blobs or passing on increased costs/limited scale to their users.
-----------------------------------------
Okay, How Does That Stack Up With MegaETH?
If we're going to really push performance we don't really have a choice - Ethereum blobs even in their final form ~2 years from now would be a detriment to our throughput and, by extension, users.
We'd break even the current iteration of EigenDA if we were to achieve our goals (100k TPS, 10+ GGas/s, etc) without massive amounts of compression.
VIsualized:
It's simply a non-starter, so the decision was made to partner with another team building within Ethereum to push the limits of blockchain scale.
When you get to the above levels you have to start worrying about other items like general bandwidth, but we're thinking about ways to help there too.
-----------------------------------------
IN SUMMARY
There are no backroom deals (blobspace is just really, really tiny)
I love you
@MegaETH is not for farmooors.
Keep farming useless L2s.
