My mom grew up on TOS. She had a crush on Kirk. When I felt different because I was the only kid I knew who liked #StarTrek, my mom explained that Trek demands it’s viewers to be ‘deep thinkers,’ and not everyone wants to do that when watching TV. I didn’t feel as weird then.
