Lots of bad stuff coming out today about Hugh Hefner. Not surprising. What's little known is that I got to share the evidence for the Resurrection and the Gospel with him around 2002. I went to the Playboy Mansion to interview him for my TV show "Faith Under Fire." After the cameras were turned off, we had a long conversation about the evidence for Jesus and the Gospel. We kept in touch a bit but I never saw evidence that he responded spiritually. Still, I was glad to be able to share Jesus with him.

This time of year we see posts claiming insider information on "what halloween is really about" from someone who is supposedly a "recent convert from witchcraft." I have a post reflecting on our tendency to think that a person's pre-converted sin makes them an expert. It doesn't. See comments.

I’m reflecting on consolation, dryness, and the experience of abandonment in the Christian life - what the Puritans called desertion - and how the Lord uses these season to shepherd us to himself. See comments.
Evel Knievel & I became friends after he read my book The Case for Christ. Evel became a born-again believer who loved the Lord & couldn't stop telling people about Him. When he called me the first time, I answered the phone & he asked, "Is this Lee Strobel?" I said yes. He said, "This is Evel." I thought Satan had gotten my phone number until he clarified who he was!
(I forgot to post this yesterday) Fifty-one years ago on October 25, 1975, Evel Knievel made history by successfully jumping 14 Greyhound buses at Kings Island in Ohio. Flying 133 feet on his Harley-Davidson XR-750, the legendary stuntman achieved the longest successful jump of his career and drew a record-breaking 52% television audience on ABC's Wide World of Sports. The historic leap served as the ultimate redemption after his horrific Wembley Stadium crash just five months earlier, setting a world record that stood unbroken for 24 years. I loved watching him as a kid.

george washington really crossed a river, fought the british, and then decided the biggest threat to america was the english language.
“we’ll call it a dozen, but only for 12. hamburger has no ham. buffalo wings have no buffalo. and nobody is allowed to ask what’s in a hot dog.”
bro founded a country and immediately made a language-learning app necessary.
Interesting ...
Yesterday, I announced this will be my last season watching the NFL.
It’s not just the gambling commercials, Jason Kelce, and the international slopification of the sport.
The game isn’t the same. It’s not close to what made it great. The referees control the game with calls and no-calls, just like the NBA.
There is no flow to a game. The natural energy is gone because almost every play is flagged and/or reviewed.
It feels like I spend 3 hours of my life watching 10 minutes of action that is open to subjective interpretations by officials.
It’s really simple; I am no longer entertained, I am annoyed.
The NFL won’t miss me but I won’t miss them either.

📺On October 25, 1975, ‘The Mary Tyler Moore Show’ aired ‘Chuckles Bites the Dust,’ one of television’s most iconic sitcom episodes. When Chuckles the Clown dies in a bizarre parade accident, Mary Richards is appalled by her coworkers’ jokes, until she attends his funeral and finds herself unable to stop laughing.
The episode won an Emmy for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series and was ranked #1 on TV Guide’s 1997 list of the 100 Greatest TV Episodes of All Time
