A familiar-sounding riff landed Elastica in one of Britpop’s most famous songwriting disputes. “Waking Up” borrowed heavily from The Stranglers’ “No More Heroes”, eventually resulting in an out-of-court settlement and shared writing credits. The track appeared on Elastica’s hugely successful 1995 self-titled debut album and reached No. 13 in the UK. This Top of the Pops performance caught the band during their rapid rise.

One of the many stretches of the Scotland-England border is the River Tweed, which marks the boundary for many miles. It follows the course of the river without deviation, except for one very curious field. This is how a small piece of England came to be part of Scotland. 1/3

The number 96 has been tattooed on my wrist since 2015. It reminds me every day that I was one of the lucky ones who came home from Hillsborough. Today, standing in Parliament to speak as the Hillsborough Law passed was one of the proudest and most emotional moments of my life. For the 97. For their families. For every campaigner who never gave up. This is your legacy. #HillsboroughLaw #JFT97

Quote: "These men built England; not Africans, not Muslims, not Jews." Actually these men didn't build anything whatsoever in England. The photo was taken by W. Eugene Smith on January 23rd, 1950 at Coedely, Rhondda Cynon Taf, southeast Wales. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Hatred rots peoples brains.

Courtney Love often overshadowed the music with her headlines, but "Northern Star" remains one of Hole's most overlooked achievements. Featured on 1998's Celebrity Skin, the song traded raw aggression for soaring melodies and emotional vulnerability, revealing a different side to the band's songwriting. This live performance captures Hole at their most powerful, proving they could be just as captivating through restraint as sheer volume.

Lots of Boomers seem to be remembering the summer of 1976 with rose tinted spectacles, & think that they ‘just got in with it’ Let’s have a look at what the newspapers of the day had to say in 1976…. 🧵

And no, it isn't "nannying neurotics" infecting our once great "resilient country" to share public health messaging highlighting the different signs to look out for for both heat exhaustion and heatstroke! "common sense" is NOT a substitute for public health messaging🙄 22/
