Wonder why Ian picked these chants, out of the 1000’s each week…
Poverty chanting, give me a break
I’ve written to @premierleague Chief Executive Richard Masters demanding action on poverty chanting following Everton’s game against Chelsea.
Everton & Liverpool supporters have endured this class prejudice for years. Mocking families who cannot afford to put food on the table is shameful.
Through Fans Supporting Foodbanks, supporters stand together to feed our communities. The Premier League must show the same solidarity & leadership.
Hunger doesn’t wear colours. It’s time our game acted like it.

I played high-level baseball and high-level cricket. Hitting a cricket ball is dramatically easier. Not close.
I was a left-handed hitter who played D1 baseball, got drafted, and spent two seasons in the minors (High-A and a cup of coffee in Double-A). I also played competitive cricket at a solid semi-pro/county second XI level after moving overseas, including against guys who had first-class and a couple of international appearances.
Baseball: facing 94–97 mph with late life or a slider that started middle and finished off the plate was a nightmare. You have roughly 0.40 seconds. The bat is round. The sweet spot is tiny. Miss by half an inch and it’s a weak ground ball or a foul tip that still hurts. Even average big-league stuff made me look bad more often than not.
Cricket: the bat is a wide, flat paddle. The ball is coming from further away (22 yards) and the effective reaction window feels longer. Even when a quick bowler was 88–92 mph with seam movement, the hitting area on a cricket bat is so large that making solid contact is much more forgiving. You can play late, use the pace, or just miss-hit and still find the gap because the face is so big. I scored plenty of runs against guys who bowled real heat and swing. The same stuff that would have had me swinging through air or chopping it into the ground in baseball was very hittable once I adjusted to the bounce and the bat face.
The skill ceiling in cricket is real (footwork, playing late, handling swing and reverse swing, etc.), but pure ball-striking difficulty is not in the same universe as baseball. A competent baseball hitter with decent hand-eye can walk into a cricket net and start middling the ball almost immediately. The reverse is not true. I’ve seen good club cricket batters try baseball and get embarrassed by 90 mph straight fastballs with zero movement.
Cricket fans love to say their sport is harder. On the pure act of hitting the ball hard and consistently, it isn’t. The equipment and the geometry make it far more forgiving.
Baseball hitting is just a harder skill.
He might do ok in the 3s
Might be the worse take of the lot, cricket matches take up to 5 days but have less strategy???
Whilst 1000s of baseball players who didn’t quite make it to the show moved over to cricket to mop up the big bucks in franchise leagues…

Not a single cricket player has made it to Double-A, which is two levels below pro. You'd think th3y would have figured out how to if it was so easy.
Because taxes don’t appear on the P&L…
If you think companies don’t factor tax as a cost, have a look at how many business try and stay under the VAT threshold. Just one of the pointless tax cliff edges in our overly complex system.
Nope, that’s not how taxes and price works. The price is determined by demand and supply.
Companies charge the highest price they can given demand. A tax levied on *profits* does not affect a company’s cost ie supply.
Taxes on *windfall* profits (like oil and gas) are the most efficient kind of tax there is.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Corporate profit taxes do not directly shift marginal costs but empirical studies show partial pass-through into higher consumer prices. Windfall taxes on oil and gas have deterred investment and production in practice despite theoretical efficiency on rents.

At this point Bournemouth could sell the stadium and somehow come back with a better one.
What is miserable bore, can’t just be happy for a club, has to have an agenda
Famous night for Bournemouth, who swamped an awful AC Milan and deserve to enjoy it. But we can’t ignore the elephant splashing around in the room. Report: theguardian.com/football/202…
We don’t care about Bournemouth
We like you really
It’s not a rivalry
Sure thing lads, we believe you

Good news this for Bournemouth fans. Massive ground, massive fanbase, massive appreciation of their first ever home European game. 😂 #tinpot
Managed to get tickets for Saints this Saturday for something to do while my kids are off doing activities in the new forest. Cheap as well…
Mental for the pride of the South Coast
Cool, looking forward to incredible growth numbers this week…
Another bumper quarter, tax cuts and pay rises all round?
I can’t help thinking this could all have been avoided…

Man is asking what Bournemouth fans have done for the club 😂😂
Live in Bournemouth
Support Bournemouth
Also support the Patriots (European games, 2 trips to the states, one training camp)
Would I begin to claim I’m as much of a fan as someone in Foxborough who sits through the pre season heat and the new year snow… not even close.
So Google has done something…
Pretty sure this was already a feature as well
I know people are worried about fuel prices. And I get it. You get to the pump, watch the numbers climb, and wonder why it's costing so much more than it used to.
The reality is that global events are pushing up costs, and families here at home are feeling the impact.
But I won't accept that there's nothing I can do to help.
That's why from today, you'll be able to see petrol and diesel prices on Google Maps, compare nearby stations and find the cheapest option before you fill up.
It's a small change, but if there's a practical way to help people keep more money in their pocket, I'll do it.
