As an outcome of the DOJ antitrust trial, Google won't have to sell Chrome and will be able to keep Android, but Google will have to make certain search index and user-interaction data available to competitors. Google will also be required to offer certain competitors search and search text ads syndication services. Google has said previously that it plans to file an appeal, which means it could take years before it's required to act on the ruling, so don't expect the search index and user-interaction data to be shared soon.
* The EU Commission fines Google €2.95 billion over abusive practices in online advertising technology
More legal trouble for Google: The European Commission fined Google €2.95B for abusing its dominant position in the online advertising technology market by favoring its own online display advertising technology services to the detriment of competing providers, advertisers and online publishers.
* Apple to launch AI search for Siri in 2026: Report
Bloomberg reports that Apple plans to launch its own AI powered Answer Engine next year in the spring as part of a long-delayed overhaul to Siri. The goal is to "transform Siri into an 'answer engine', pulling information from across the web in a style similar to Google’s AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and Perplexity."
