First time I've been to Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and I'm genuinely surprised how handsome a city it is, it's lovely!

Good news. 👍 Awful AI. 👎
Not ONE, but TWO Ivy restaurants are coming to Newcastle! 👀 The Ivy Newcastle Brasserie and The Ivy Asia are taking over one of Grey Street's most impressive historic buildings, with both set to open THIS WINTER! 📍 102 Grey Street

The trees on Northumberland St. and Ridley Place make such a difference, as do the planters/rain gardens. The lack of greenery in old StreetView images made the place look completely devoid of life and nature. 📍 Northumberland Street, #Newcastle.

Lots of barriers back throughout Northumberland Street, around lighting columns, trees, and some uplifted paving.

That a metro system would be built in a northern UK city involving underground tunnels and stations is supposedly an impossible, unrealistic idea from an unserious mind. Meanwhile, Newcastle with 13km of bored tunnels and 9 underground stations built 13 years after first plans:

“and the potential to launch river transport schemes”, you say?
Here’s my Tyne Ferry route map that no one asked for:

@StagecoachNE a FORTY min gap in service on the number 1 because you’ve cancelled one (again) and the following is running 15 mins late. This is happening too often.

Where will the 1 to ‘City Centre’ terminate exactly, @StagecoachNE?
Hi @StagecoachNE. When you operate short runs the destination is often just ‘City Centre’, which is a bit vague. How do passengers know if they’ll be dumped up at Haymarket, down at Central Station or somewhere in between? Displaying a street or station name would be more helpful

Ever complained about the bus or said it’s too unreliable so you use your car? Well, speak now or forever hold your peace! 5 mins of your time will help the North East get better buses. Support bus franchising. The consultation closes at 9am tomorrow: northeast-ca.gov.uk/consulta…
We deserve better buses in the North East! Currently there’s a vast range of complicated operator-specific tickets, an array of confusing route names & colours, and MANY duplicated route numbers! (There’s four DIFFERENT number 10s in Newcastle city centre for God’s sake!)

With public control, through bus franchising, our buses could once again be fully integrated with Metro, rail & ferry, be uniformed, more reliable and generally so much simpler to use, making them a more attractive option, which could help to reduce congestion.

For too long the private operators have prioritised their shareholder’s profits over passengers. Don’t let the North East miss out on bringing our buses back under public control! The consultation closes Monday morning, so speak up THIS WEEKEND! ⤵️ northeast-ca.gov.uk/consulta…

Went to have a look tonight and good as it is, I could have been so much better if a south entrance had been created too!
*Sigh*. Newcastle’s Central Station was once promised a new southern entrance (see left pic) to open up access to a redeveloped Stephenson’s Quarter. After years of waiting we ended up with a small hole punched through a wall as a cheaper western entrance instead (right pic).

This £2BN regeneration is set to transform the area around York Central Station. Led by McLaren Property and Arlington Real Estate, the project's first major phase has secured planning approval and will see more than 1,000 homes constructed on what was once railway land. The approved plans include a new commercial district, a 213-room hotel, public squares and parkland, as well as a new western entrance to the railway station. The development team says that at least 20% of the homes will be affordable. The wider 46-hectare masterplan, designed by Allies and Morrison, is set to deliver up to 2,500 homes alongside office, retail and leisure space, creating an entirely new district immediately west of York’s historic centre. Construction on the first phase is due to start in 2027 and complete 2030. 📷 York Central / Allies and Morrison

🚨New Video! Almost two years after the first class 555 metro train entered service, two years of using them as a regular passenger, I've pulled together a comprehensive, in-depth and balanced (as possible) user's review of these trains: youtu.be/a9jorsUY8cU?is=SAdy…
