Just like you and I commercial companies have credit ratings. S&P, one of the big global corporate credit rating agencies have just downgraded Thames Water's rating to CCC-. Meaning? Get your money the hell out of there, if you invest this company highly likely you're gonna loose it. Run like the wind bullseye. Meanwhile 15 million customers are trapped with nowhere to run. reuters.com/business/sp-push…

I am feeling a weight of disappointment with Burnham’s Budget. Pennies from heaven. Feed the poor.

🔴@Helen_Whately, Shadow Secretary of State for Work & Pensions, has claimed £2 MILLION expenses in 10 years. £300,000 relates to her own travel and accommodation - yet she only lives 50 miles from London. Her boss, @KemiBadenoch has 3 children, claims £2.7K per month to rent a 6 bed farmhouse & tried to claim expenses for a family holiday. The country can't afford these @Conservatives. - @Heccles94

Bills are going up, we know that and we know why - we allow the global price of gas to set the price of our own North Sea gas and our own green electricity. Time to dump the global market - it’s Casino Capitalism. Serves only the oil countries and companies and speculators and traders - is totally disconnected from the cost of production. How does that make sense - for the rest of us..:) thetimes.com/business/energy…

Danny Dyer is bang on and as we all point the finger of blame at each other for standards of living declining in the UK, United Utilities are patting themselves on the back for clobbering the UK taxpayer with a staggering £3.6bn bill to clean up their own mess in Lake Windermere. United Utilities have been pumping sewage into iconic lakes across the Lake District relentlessly since 2020, making a sweet £1.6bn in dividends to their shareholders. Now, in response to pressure from campaign groups, they are proposing UK taxpayers foot a staggering £3.6bn bill to build a tunnel to transport sewage away from the lake. How much more evidence will it take to get these 💩-pumping, profit-making parasites out of our water? Original footage from @novaramedia

The Home Secretary’s plan to offer rapid routes to settlement for those earning six-figure salaries whilst punishing and making lower-paid workers wait appears to be based on the notion that care workers are “low-skilled” because they are low-paid - that’s an absolute disgrace
The comments made by @Nigel_Farage about Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) are complete bull****! The £200bn figure he uses has no basis in reality and is unsupported by any reliable data - and he knows it. If UK news shows won’t call this boll**** out let’s do it ourselves

The biggest benefits claimant in the UK. They claim an eye watering £17,500,000,000 a year. The same as 4.4m people on benefits. How? Because they claim ALL their costs, every wage, every oil rig, every tanker. Completely nationalised, but the profits are Privatised.

"Anglian Water fined £1.6M for polluting River Brain in Essex." Over the last 15 years Anglian Water has been found guilty of 79 different environmental offences and already paid almost £5 million in fines. Has any of it made any difference whatsoever? Of course not. Perhaps later this morning the @CommonsEFRA would like to ask the polluters why. newcivilengineer.com/latest/…

90% of England’s water industry is foreign owned. The result has been low investment, high customer bills, raw sewage in rivers, over 1,200 criminal convictions, and harms to nature, health and national security. Public ownership is needed. Watch the Minister's reply.

The UK Covid-19 Inquiry published its report into care today. Our loved ones were failed by a Government that abandoned them and left them to die. Action must be taken now to prevent a tragedy like this happening again. Here is our statement:

I honestly think this budget could be the last chance to turn things around before we go over the edge. What we're seeing erupt across France and Europe isn't isolated unrest. It's the culmination of decades of economic and political choices that have socialised the costs of crises while privatising the gains. And we're reaching a tipping point. People are waking up to the fact that the inequality, exploitation and endless concentration of wealth aren't inevitable. They're political choices. And what we're seeing across Europe should be an enormous warning to Labour. People are making it increasingly clear that they're simply not prepared to accept another round of "difficult decisions" that, for decades, have meant ordinary people bearing the costs while those at the top walk away with the gains. I honestly don't think those in power appreciate just how close we are to the edge. If this budget is more of the same, more excuses, more tinkering around the edges, rather than a fundamental shift away from an extractive economy towards one that delivers equitable and sustainable prosperity, I genuinely fear what's coming. There HAS to be a turning point. Society is not prepared to keep accepting the alternative.
Will Labour next week in the budget tell us sad stories about "difficult decisions" and how there's "no money left?" Or will this Labour Government challenge the broken economic thinking that has lead us to this place? And tax the assets of multimillionaires & billionaires? 👀

Thames Water is due to run out of money (again) over the next few weeks. A year and a half ago it was given a £3 billion bailout now it's asking for another £2.4 billion. We really are being taken for mugs. theguardian.com/business/202…

“Massachusetts” was written by Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb and released on 1967. The brothers had never been to the state. They liked the sound of the name, with its repeated S’s, and wrote the song as a challenge. It was originally meant for The Seekers. Years later, in London, Maurice told Judith Durham that the Bee Gees had dreamed of writing them a hit and this was it. When the Seekers did not take it, the brothers kept it. Robin sang lead, the first Bee Gees single on which he did. It became the group’s first UK No. 1, spending four weeks at the top, and reached No. 1 in at least a dozen other countries. In the United States it peaked at No. 11. It later appeared on the 1968 album Horizontal and sold more than five million copies.
