Women are often primary managers of household energy. HER LIGHT provides training in solar installation and maintenance. Energy access becomes more sustainable when women build and maintain it #LightED

HER LIGHT aims to train 500 women in renewable energy skills by 2026. Solar installation. Maintenance. Circular systems. Sustainable energy requires inclusive participation. #LightEd

It’s March!! Happy New Month. Love, in development work, is practical. It looks like reliable light. It looks like safe movement after sunset. It looks like infrastructure that lasts. At LightEd, we believe care for communities is demonstrated through durable systems. #Lighted

At Durumi IDP Camp: Children assembled Glow Lamps. Youth installed recycled tiles. Women contributed artwork. 600 kg of plastic waste became infrastructure. 250+ devices are charged weekly. Community participation strengthens sustainability. #LightED #Impact

What does reliable electricity change first? A) Safety B) Education C) Income D) Communication In Durumi IDP Camp, the answer was more than one. #Lighted

Durumi IDP Camp has existed for 11 years. In 2025: 30 solar streetlights installed. 20 solar floodlights installed. 600kg of recycled plastic transformed into a charging station. Today, 250+ devices are charged weekly. We build infrastructure that strengthens resilience.

For many off-grid communities, reliable electricity remains years away. When the sun sets, productivity slows. Decentralized solar infrastructure provides immediate resilience. This is the work we are documenting. #LightEd

At LightEd, we turn discarded waste into solar-powered lamps that bring light to classrooms, homes, and small businesses across Africa. Every recycled bottle brings us closer to a world where energy is clean, affordable, and accessible to all. #LightEd #EnergyAccess

A healthy planet must also be a safe one. This #16Days, UNEP is calling for stronger investments to prevent violence against women & girls — offline and online. Executive Director @andersen_inger reminds us: There is simply #NoExcuse for gender-based violence.

Losing over 300 billion work hours in a year shows how climate change is already hurting productivity, and daily life. If we don’t act, more jobs will become unsafe and vulnerable communities will carry the heaviest load. The numbers are scary, but they’re also a push to act now.

Pretty crazy how much clean energy China is building.

Growing up without steady power teaches you to shrink your dreams. Hearing Peter, our Head of Strategies, talk about how light fuels creativity is a reminder that electricity is the groundwork for potential. At LightEd, we want the next generation to grow up with that freedom.

LightEd grew from a simple idea to turn discarded waste into clean energy for communities left in the dark. So far, we’ve powered 26,000 people, recycled tons of plastic, built charging stations and lamps for the underserved.
