New paper: Study of 3,580 accelerator apps finds that three redesigns of project selection barely nudged false-positive/negative rates. pubsonline.informs.org/doi/1…
"There are times when a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the new. The world is often unkind to new talent, new creations. The new needs friends!" From Ratatouille to SMJ 😀-->
New paper in Strategic Management Journal published with Nansy Lampraki, @grohsjean and @linusdahlander. We find that seconded employees have a direct and an indirect impact on selecting novel projects. The setting is the secondment scheme at the @NSF.

A person wanted for hazardous journey, small wage, bitter cold, long months of complete darkness, constant danger, safe return doubtful, honor and recognition in case of success. Paraphrased from Shackleton, but a humorous spin on me looking for a PhD student.
I am looking for a person with a *strong* quantitative background who likes to program in R, Python or Stata and really likes to think about setting up experiments. Qual research is great, but I cannot help you as much as I want. Please apply somewhere else if that is your thing.
I just hopped aboard the January Ship 30 for 30 cohort from @dickiebush and @nicolascole77!
Join me and 500+ others to learn the fundamentals of digital writing, form lifelong friendships, and publish every day for 30 days.
Check it out!👇🏼🚢

I am a professor and teach people. Every year I take a class to keep up to date and learn something new.
I offer a new service: pretend you win the Nobel prize. For a small fee, I call you and tell you with my best Swedish accent that you won in the middle of the night.
Thanks to @henningpiezunka for suggesting how I can finally turn my accent to an advantage.
This is my one and only reminder - please consider applying. @HSauermann and @ericquintane are leading the process, but I am also happy to help if I can.
We are hiring assistant professors this year. One in OB and one in strategy/innovation/entrepreneurship. Please share. We are a small school that take research seriously. @ericquintane and @HSauermann are leading the search process. faculty-research.esmt.berlin…
This new paper with Marcus Holgersson, @mwallin and @HenryChesbrough forthcoming in @ReviewStrategic discusses the closing of #openinnovation: researchgate.net/publication…
As Alexander Graham Bell allegedly said, “when one door closes, another opens.” With this metaphor in mind, we can start asking if the right door is being closed, whether it is closed at the right time, and how the door can be closed most effectively.

How can you reject an idea? Learn from research on more than 2.6 million ideas, by @linusdahlander and @henningpiezunka
I would love to hear rejection stories from academia that don’t end up with ”but it later came out in ASQ…” Some rejections just hurt. We should organize “share your rejection scars” @AOMConnect.
