25 years ago, my 6th grade literature teacher answered a knock at the door and stepped outside. She came back in after a few minutes and was somber and looking down at the floor. She announced to the class that apparently someone had flown some planes into the Trade Center buildings in New York City. She then turned on the T.V. in our class room and a room full of Midwest children sat and watched in stunned horror as we saw the burning buildings and the replay footage of the planes crashing. Then the news of Flight 93 crashing broke. Many of us wondered what would happen next. I turned to a classmate of mine and we discussed the damage to the towers and the fire and noted that we were surprised the buildings had held together. Moments later we watched the towers fall. Our school decided to try and continue classes as best as possible. Many of the Teachers were quite and just left the T.V.s on, letting us watch watch the news. Some spoke a few of their feelings, others gave us light school work to keep things moving. These memories will stay with me, and may I be reprimanded if I ever forget them. #911Remembrance
