The image on the left shows what's left of the upper dam in #Derna #Libya after it failed, causing devastation in the city below. This is an embankment dam - the impermeable clay core (brown) was supported by the rockfill embankments (grey).

#A83 #RestAndBeThankful & Old Military Road remain closed, teams are working to address 3 large boulders which are now exposed above the hillside following multiple landslips on Tuesday - the largest weighing around 75 tonnes. More here: bit.ly/A83RestAndBeThankful
