Going to the cinema is so good for my mental health. It takes me out of my head and can alter my mood and just reminds me that life is wonderful, because what can be better than sitting in the dark watching an amazing film on a beautiful big screen? 🥰

I’m spending Sunday afternoon at @Everymancinema for a screening of The Social Reckoning. I’m still in the midst of my post-LFF catch-up. October is a big month for releases this year!

I loved Tenzing. The leads are excellent and it’s such an inspiring story, enhanced by the beautiful cinematography and score. I was moved to tears 😢 I’m disappointed it isn’t getting a wider cinema release and more marketing, because it really should be seen on the big screen.

I’ve been looking forward to Tenzing ever since I first heard about. Today is a perfect rainy day for the cinema and I’m finally going to see it at @Everymancinema with my kids.

WILDWOOD is now playing in theatres and I believe everyone should get a ticket to see it — it is one of the most impressive stop motion films I’ve ever seen. We must go out and support human craftsmanship, and support this incredibly beautiful piece of art 🤍

Ghosts: The Possession of Button House was very fun. I cackled a lot and apparently embarrassed my kids who told me afterwards that I laughed too loud. It was surprisingly sweet too. Did not expect to get tears in my eyes! A great family film.

The Billy Wilder season at @BFI is such a perfect thing to do after the brilliant, but hectic, LFF. It’s like an antidote to the modern world. I can’t wait to see more films.

The Lost Weekend was excellent. Ray Milland was phenomenal. I was just so engrossed and moved. Probably one of the most vivid depictions of alcoholism I’ve seen. @MrRobValentine can testify to my embarrassing amount of tears 😭 I see why it won 4 Oscars.

My second film for the Billy Wilder season at @BFI is The Lost Weekend (1945). Looking forward to this, particularly given all the awards.

Wildwood - Holy moley this is MAGNIFICENT!! Wowww. Exceptionally complex emotional narratives, amazing world building that reminds me of Redwall. So many incredible stop-motion sequences that set a new precedent for hand-made animation. Truly spectacular filmmaking to applaud. 🦉

Decided I would try The Odyssey again, and have booked a second viewing in IMAX (as Nolan intended etc). Made me think of when I said this to my (baffled) kids:

I’m moving rapidly on from LFF and starting the Billy Wilder season at @BFI tonight, with a screening of Sunset Boulevard (1950). I’ve actually never seen it, so I’m happy I can finally tick it off the list.

The last two films I saw for LFF had subtitles, and there was someone’s head in the way for both of them. It’s extremely annoying and other than sitting in the front row (or banning tall men lol) I’m not sure what the answer is.

I had a wonderful time at #LFF. This year was one of my favourites. I saw some brilliant films and had an amazing time with my friends. I feel very lucky. My top two films were Wildwood and La Bola Negra ❤️ My other favourites were Wild Horse Nine and Elsinore.

My second film for the day is It Will Happen Tonight, in the lovely NFT1 at BFI. I’m happy to watch a film that isn’t about the destruction of the world by tech sociopaths #LFF
