It’s actually way more authentic to have several emotions happening at the same time. And for those emotions to actually contradict each other. But most people don’t have permission to see this because of programming that says you’re only allowed to feel one way at a time.

I imagine there are levels of complexities to this weekend for you—being with family, friends, full calendars, maybe some loneliness—this time of year can stretch us. There is the way we want things to go and then there's the way it all unfolds—be tender with yourself.
As the year winds down, I make sure to prioritize these three things:
1. Connection with myself and people that fill me up.
2. Completion with anything that is undone in my inner world and outer world, this is an inventory process I do every year at this time.
Criticism is the easiest and lowest form of activity. It’s also toxic to the critic. Creativity lifts. Give rise to that.
