On the morning of her wedding, Amara stared at herself in the mirror with tears rolling down her cheeks.
Not because she wasn't happy.
But because she was about to marry a man she had met only three times.
Her parents called it destiny. She called it a gamble.
"You'll learn to love him," her mother whispered as she adjusted the veil.
Amara forced a smile.
Three hours later, she became Mrs. Daniel Cole.
Daniel was everything people admired, handsome, calm, wealthy, and unbelievably respectful. Every guest envied her.
But that night..
After gently helping her out of her wedding dress, Daniel looked at her with an unreadable expression.
"I need to tell you something before we begin this marriage."
Amara's heart raced.
"What is it?"
He took a deep breath.
"There's someone living in the house."
She frowned.
"Your mother?"
He slowly shook his head.
"No..."
"My wife."
Amara froze.
"W-What do you mean? I am your wife."
Daniel looked away.
"That's what everyone believes."
A loud bang suddenly echoed from upstairs.
Both of them turned toward the ceiling.
Then came the sound of slow...
Heavy...
Footsteps.
Someone was walking above them.
But Daniel had told everyone they lived alone.
To be continued...
Would you open the bedroom door if you were Amara?
