i think one of the biggest mistakes we've made as a society is convincing people that starting a family is something you do only after you've figured out everything else in your life
we've taught young people that first you get your degree, then you find a good job, then you work on your career and become successful, then you need enough money to buy a house, travel, enjoy life, go out with friends because 30 is still young, and only when you turn 40, maybe, you can start thinking about having children
i understand why people would think this way. that's what they've been told since they were born, and obviously you want to be able to provide for your children and give them a good life. but somewhere along the way we've completely reversed the order of things. marriage and children used to be part of the process of becoming an adult, not what you do when you think you've arrived
family used to be something you built your life around
my father always told me that you should never look for reasons not to have kids, otherwise you'll never have them. he was unemployed when he had his first. now he has seven and none of us missed out on anything.
we got to a point where having kids is something you're supposed to do once you've already built your life, old and tired. we have our priorities backwards
we force people to spend the most fertile years of their lives preparing for a future that never arrives for most of them
having kids is the thing that makes your life worth it in the first place
So we are never getting this king safety paper?
Although it’s nice that the direction is sharpened and costs are being cut.
Algorand Community Update
As many of you know, Algorand has new leadership and a renewed focus on building toward a sustainable, revenue-generating network model. We are excited about the unique role Algorand can play in bringing post-quantum security to the broader Web3 and digital asset ecosystem, and we believe the timing has never been better for it.
To align our work with these goals, we are sharing a series of updates on community initiatives and outstanding questions: the future of xGov, the Ecosystem Advisory Council (EAC), the Algorand Technical Council (ATC), and the status of Project King Safety, including our commitment to staking rewards.
The xGov grants program
Over the past year, the xGov program brought together a committed group of community members, and we’re grateful to everyone who took part, whether by submitting proposals, voting, or contributing to discussion. As our focus as a company shifts, we have made the decision to pause the xGov program indefinitely, effective December 6.
We also want to extend a special thanks to the members of the xGov Council for their time, care, and guidance throughout the program.
Because the Algorand Forum has, in recent years, primarily served as the home for xGov-related discussion, we will also be closing the Forum, effective November 6. A read-only archive will be made available. We encourage all Algorand developers, node runners, and ecosystem builders to join the Algorand Discord to stay up to date on the latest technical news and to connect with us directly for any support.
The Ecosystem Advisory Council & Algorand Technical Council
We formed the Ecosystem Advisory Council (EAC) in January to build a more formal bridge between the ecosystem and Algorand leadership. Its role was to gather broad-based feedback from across the community, share it with leadership, and advise on how Algorand proposals would affect the ecosystem.
As our priorities have shifted, we have decided to conclude the EAC as a company-run body, effective November 6. We want to thank the Council members for their participation.
Going forward, we still want to hear feedback and ideas from all parts of the ecosystem. The Algorand Discord is the best place to reach us.
Separately, we are also ending our sponsorship of the Algorand Technical Council (ATC) group. We will continue to host periodic Developer Council meetings for technical discussions, and you can request an invitation to this meeting by asking in Discord.
Staking rewards and Project King Safety
First and most importantly: Algorand has already committed to extending staking rewards through January 2028. This commitment stands, and it reflects our continued focus on rewarding the node runners and stakers who help secure the network.
As part of this shift, we are also indefinitely pausing Project King Safety as a holistic roadmap item. Specifically, the previously discussed ideas of lifting the ALGO supply cap (inflation-based incentives), enabling and capturing MEV, and increasing the minimum transaction fee are no longer being considered at this time.
New usage-based transaction fees, such as those in place for transactions signed using Falcon-1024 post-quantum accounts, may still be introduced or adjusted, and we will share more if and when that work progresses.
Our priority is clear: a sustainable network and continued rewards for those who help secure it.
Looking ahead
Taken together, these changes demonstrate our sharpened focus. Cryptographic security has been central to Algorand from the start, beginning with our original innovation, Pure Proof-of-Stake consensus. Falcon post-quantum signatures have run on Algorand since 2022, followed by quantum-resistant transactions in 2025 and native post-quantum accounts in 2026.
Our next chapter is about bringing those capabilities beyond Algorand to the broader Web3 and digital asset ecosystem, so custodians, wallet providers, issuers, and other networks can add post-quantum security without rebuilding the systems they already use. Building a sustainable network around that work will allow us to keep investing in Algorand, and we’re grateful to the node runners, stakers, and builders whose participation keeps it secure.

You have to reach the point where your fear of dying mediocre outweighs your fear of looking like an idiot. The first version of anything you do will be embarrassing, that should be obvious, but too many people let that thought keep them the same for decades on end.

An influencer is incentivized by attention, so their content must be optimized to be consumed and forgotten (cheap dopamine).
A personal brand is incentivized by money, so their content must be optimized to move you down their sales funnel.
An artisan is incentivized by the satisfaction that comes from the quality of their work. They need attention and money, but for the sole purpose of spending more time on work they enjoy and the impact it has.
Become an artisan.
