Lions kicker Jake Bates was the guest speaker at Rochester Christian University’s annual dinner Saturday. I hosted the Q&A with Jake, whose story has so many crazy steps along the way to Detroit.
His message will go a long way to help get scholarships to kids who need them.

Congrats @2kayzero! Well deserved & congrats on earning your degree!
Honored to have spent yesterday morning with these two @RCUWarriorsMBB alums, the Upshur brothers. We battled against a tough and physical Ionia State prison basketball team on the hardwood. Thanks for the opportunity @BreaklooseInc Ministries

I recently read about man who collects pictures of hitters who had hit walk-off home runs. He said that the reason he did this is because this is how he views us entering heaven.
Look at the faces of his teammates waiting to welcome him home. Look at their excitement. They can’t wait to celebrate with him.
Look at the fans. Arms raised, big smiles, maybe even hugs for a perfect stranger.
Perhaps this is your first holiday season without someone important who is now waiting for you in heaven. Maybe it’s just another one with that big hole in your heart and an empty seat at the table. Either way, I hope you can find encouragement in this picture, what it represented to the man who collected it, and find joy this year. #heaven #hope #joy #grief

Congratulations to Detroit Catholic Central sophomore Brooks Rogowski, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2024 OHL Draft by the Oshawa Generals. The 15-year-old Rogowski was the first of 11 local hockey players in Michigan taken in the OHL draft this weekend. Here's highlights of Brooks from this past season at Detroit Catholic Central.

According to Oakland's head coach Greg Kampe, Jack Gohlke's teammates got wind of a tweet that said all these Kentucky players are gonna be in the NBA next year, and he's gonna be selling insurance.
They started singing State Farm's jingle: " Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there" to him.
