Why does audio software lag behind so much in UI and UX? – because the barrier of entry to audio programming is too high. We need more people interested in open source audio programming. This begins by lowering the barrier of entry.

Additionally, DAWs are often considered expert software. Experts have complex workflows and have gotten used to the complex nature of the software. Not necessary in many cases. General and expert users can both get what they want without the complexity.
