David, I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt. There are plenty of people I wouldn’t offer this courtesy to. Why? Because I believe, perhaps naively, perhaps not, that you are act in good faith. I’ve watched your work for a long time. I’ve read your blogs, bought your books, used your software and now run your OS. Your politics are confusing. Again, I believe you act in good faith. However, politics isn’t like software. Iterating on top of a badly thought through idea has the potential to cause a lot more harm than doing the same thing with software. Just look at some of the unsavoury replies in this thread. What you did, perhaps unwittingly was to blow a dog whistle. You’ve not been on the receiving end of this kind of racism, but in the real world, human beings like myself get killed through the fullest expression of ideas like these. I have learned not to respond to the worst, because of Brandolini’s Principle, but im still giving you the benefit of the doubt. If you’re willing, as a current master of the universe to continue to engage with respect, as you have done with your Omarchy work, that would be welcome. And for what it’s worth, I’ve sent you a complimentary copy of Code Is Just. I wouldn’t have done this if I thought we don’t have a lot in common. I think you’ll enjoy it. I’m not going to discuss the other stuff for a while, because it gets ugly very quickly, but as for your Omarchy work, I continue to wish you all the best.
