Agri Conversations with Ash Teakle in Western Australia: getting on-farm and speaking with farmers is the best part of my job. We either have a chat at the kitchen table over a coffee or jump in a car and learn about their business. The conversations vary from how they are changing their planting decisions to geopolitics and grain markets. To share with you what it’s like, I took some bare-bones equipment, stuck my 2 phones to the windscreen of the car and filmed a conversation. On his farm in the central wheat belt, Ash grows predominantly wheat, barley, canola and legumes. Legumes help to naturally bring nitrogen into soils. Ash decides on these crops because that’s what his region’s climate and soils support best, and it’s what gives his business the best financial return. The high fertiliser prices earlier this year, due to the US-Iran conflict, led to only minor changes to Ash's crop planting decisions. Due to comparatively poorer wheat prices and larger fertiliser requirements to grow it, Ash took hectares out of wheat planting and put more into barley and lupins. I asked Ash about whether the increased volatility in costs (fertiliser) and revenue (crop prices) makes him view farming differently as a business. Does it make him hesitant to invest further? In 2026 alone, Ash had to balance the immense disruption to fertiliser supplies globally impacting his costs, and a war in the Black Sea flaring up and impacting the price of the crops he grows. Ash said that volatility has always existed, and after 25 years he has learnt to incorporate the shocks. Ongoing disruption have led Ash to incorporate more risk mitigation strategies into his business. These include everything from forward selling his grain prior to harvest when prices make sense from a profit margins perspective, pre-purchasing fertiliser, and through to storing larger volumes of fuel on farm when prices are favourable or the future starts to look more uncertain. Ash has also actively been looking at innovation for his farm, but only where the economics stack up. Ash has incorporated variable rate application on his farm. Variable rate application allows farmers to spray only where the fertiliser is needed instead of blanket spraying. It utilises a prescription map based on soil type, historic yields and satellite imagery. Ash shares that many farmers are keenly watching the automation space, including swarm bots, that can go around the farm on their own and spray the necessary crops. I hope you enjoyed the video! A massive thank you to @AshTeakle for kindly inviting us onto his farm, and to Craig Matthews and Adam Howard for helping set up this interview last week. Please note: the podcast video was recorded safely on-farm, off public roads, with seatbelts on and with no phones being touched while driving. #agchatoz

🚨🇨🇳 CHINA JUST BROKE THE #SILVER MARKET 🇨🇳 🚨 If you own silver this is a MUST read!!! Here's what nobody is telling you about January 1st, 2026. Starting New Year's Day, #China is restricting physical silver exports. Not slowing them. Not taxing them. Restricting them. And the price action we're seeing right now? It's not a glitch. It's a warning shot. Let me walk you through what's happening in REAL TIME —because this might be the biggest structural shift in precious metals markets we've seen in a generation. THE IMPOSSIBLE PRICE GAP: 🎄🎅Today, on Christmas Eve, Shanghai closed physical silver at $77.89 per ounce. At the exact same time, #COMEX—the Western "benchmark" for silver—was trading at $72.23. That's a $5.66 spread. To put that in perspective: historically, this gap rarely exceeds $2. Why? Because arbitrage traders instantly exploit any difference. Buy cheap in one market, sell high in another. Rinse, repeat. The gap closes in minutes. But when a $5.66 premium persists for hours—on a half-day trading session no less—something fundamental has broken. The arbitrage machine is DEAD. And it's DEAD because the physical metal cannot move the way it used to. WHAT SHANGHAI'S PRICE ACTUALLY MEANS: Let me clarify something crucial: China isn't "overpaying" for silver. Shanghai's $78/oz price reflects what silver costs when you need actual metal delivered to your vault—not a contract, not a promise, not a cash settlement. The #Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) operates on physical delivery. When Chinese manufacturers need silver for solar panels, EVs, or electronics, they pay Shanghai prices. That's REAL demand meeting REAL supply. COMEX? That's a different animal entirely. COMEX futures are: 🔹Heavily leveraged paper contracts. 🔹Mostly cash-settled. 🔹Rarely result in actual delivery. When you see $72/oz on COMEX, you're looking at the price of a derivative—a bet on silver's price, not the actual metal itself. Shanghai's premium isn't irrational exuberance. It's the cost of scarcity. THE VAULT EXODUS IS ACCELERATING: While markets were winding down for the holidays, the metal was moving out. COMEX registered (available for delivery) silver inventories just posted sharp declines: 🔹Asahi: -1.42 million oz. 🔹JPMorgan: -597,993 oz. 🔹CNT Depository: -228,780 oz. Total registered standing: 127.2 million ounces. For context, global silver demand runs approximately 1.2 billion ounces annually. COMEX registered represents roughly 10% of annual consumption. And it's draining. This isn't volatility. This isn't seasonal adjustment. This is what a modern bank run looks like—except instead of people lining up outside branches, you've got forklifts loading pallets onto trucks headed East. WHY JANUARY 1ST CHANGES EVERYTHING: China's export restrictions don't happen in a vacuum. China is simultaneously: 🔹The world's largest silver consumer (industrial demand). 🔹A major silver producer and refiner. 🔹Sitting on depleting domestic vault inventories. By restricting exports starting January 1st, China is essentially declaring: "Whatever silver we produce or refine stays here." The immediate effect? Western markets lose a critical supply valve. For years, when COMEX or LBMA needed physical delivery, metal could be sourced globally—including from China. That safety net is about to disappear. And the market is pricing this in right now. THE PREMIUM TELLS THE REAL STORY: Today, the physical premium in Shanghai exploded to over $8/oz above COMEX. Eight. Dollars. This isn't noise. This is structural. Premiums spike when physical buyers are willing to pay whatever it takes to secure deliverable metal. It Signals: 🔹Supply tightness → Vaults are running low. 🔹Delivery urgency → Industrial users can't wait. 🔹Import barriers → Getting metal into China is harder/slower. 🔹Geopolitical hedging → Smart money wants tangible assets. When physical markets consistently trade above paper markets, history shows one outcome: Paper prices eventually chase physical reality higher. Every major commodity breakout starts this way—not with hype, but with fundamental supply-demand dislocations that paper markets can't suppress anymore. EAST VS. WEST: TWO DIFFERENT MARKETS Here's the bottom line... The West prices silver on leverage. The East prices silver on scarcity. COMEX reflects speculation, hedging, and paper supply. It's a derivatives market masquerading as a pricing mechanism. In my view, a SCAM. Shanghai reflects REAL industrial demand, vault constraints, and physical delivery. And right now, the gap between these two realities is screaming one message. Physical silver is separating from paper silver. WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU: If you're holding physical silver, understand what's happening: The metal you own is being repriced in real-time. Global supply chains are fragmenting. The "infinite paper supply" narrative is colliding with finite physical inventory. If you're holding paper contracts, ETFs, or unallocated positions—you might want to ask yourself what you actually own when settlement time comes. Because when Shanghai is paying $78 and #COMEX is printing $72, one of these prices is outright LYING. And it's not the one backed by forklifts moving 1,000-ounce bars out of vaults. THE BREAKOUT IS STARTING: This isn't the end of silver's move. This is how breakouts begin. Not with headlines. Not with retail FOMO. With structural breaks in the plumbing of global markets. With premiums that shouldn't exist. With vault inventories that can't be replaced. China's export restrictions go live in 8 days. The market is already reacting. The question isn't whether silver is going higher. The question is whether you're positioned for what happens when paper markets finally admit what physical markets already know: There isn't enough metal to go around. Know what you hold. 🎯 Silver isn't expensive at $78. It's scarce. Triple digit #silver is not only IMMINENT, but INEVITABLE. If you enjoyed this post and found it valuable, like and repost so more people can see it. #silversqueeze
🚨🇨🇳 BREAKING: CHINA HAS TIGHTENED EXPORT CONTROLS ON #SILVER 🚨🇨🇳 In 10 days, silver exports will require special state licences starting Jan 1, 2026. This isn’t a rumor — global silver markets are bracing for impact. ⚠️ 🔍 With China responsible for ~70% of global silver refining capacity, these new rules could remove the majority of tradable silver from world markets.📈 Why it matters:
🔹Silver prices could surge as supply tightens. 💰 🔹Physical premiums could spike substantially. 🚛
🔹Industrial supply chains (solar, EVs, electronics, AI data centers) will feel the squeeze. 🔋 The global commodities world is about to be shaken. 🪙🔥 #silversqueeze

“China is attacking here, targeting not only Australia but also the US dollar. China's goal clearly is to purchase BHP's iron ore at RMB.” - DaiWW My comment: BHP Australia can sell the iron ore to China in RMB and convert part of the RMB to SGEi Hong Kong #Gold warrants. The rest of the RMB can be used to purchase Chinese manufacture products. This is where Rubber meets the Road. This is as real as it gets.
this is a big deal. According to Bloomberg, China National Mineral Resources Corporation, a state-owned iron ore purchaser, has suspend the purchase of any BHP iron ore denominated in US dollars. This marks a significant escalation in the ongoing pricing dispute between Chinese buyers and the world's largest iron ore miner. Australian Prime Minister Albanese expressed concern about this. China is attacking here, targeting not only Australia but also the US dollar. China's goal clearly is to purchase BHP's iron ore at RMB. After stabilizing the iron ore resources in Brazil and Africa, China, which now owns over 70% of the global iron ore market, has the trump card to ask BHP to do so.

NEW REPORT: REFUELLING AUSTRALIAN AVIATION - The Australian government has committed the economy to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. To reach net zero, the government will need to decarbonise both road and aviation‑based transportation. Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) provides a pathway for Australian aviation to reduce emissions by 70% compared to using conventional jet fuel. The higher cost of SAF compared to conventional jet fuel will mean SAF mandates will likely need to be implemented to encourage adoption. The government has already begun industry consultation on mandates. Considering 2030 mandates already announced in other countries of 3‑10%, and existing local airline adoption announcements, we believe a 2030 mandate of 10% is reasonable to assume. A 10% SAF mandate is estimated to be equivalent to 1.06bn litters (851 thousand tonnes) of SAF. The SAF mandate needs to be modest to avoid a steep rise in airfares. Given initiatives already taken by the government, we expect a local SAF production industry to likely be fostered in Australia. The government’s interest in SAF stems from a need to decarbonise transportation, enhance fuel security, create jobs and build agricultural industry resilience against economic coercion. With economies of scale already established in offshore SAF production markets, the government may need to mandate any SAF used domestically be sourced locally. We expect the government to provide a mixture of grants, financing gaps and production incentives to help kickstart the industry. The least expensive and most proven SAF production methodology used globally is Hydro processing of Esters and Fatty Acids (HEFA). From an economic perspective, the HEFA pathway has a high likelihood of broad‑scale adoption in Australia. The HEFA pathway converts fats, oils and greases into fuel. If only HEFA production is used, 1 million tonnes of feedstock demand could be created. To avoid HEFA feedstock constraints during droughts, Alcohol to Jet facilities could also be constructed. Australian agriculture can provide ample feedstock for a domestic SAF industry. Approximately 80% of produced canola and tallow is on average currently exported. Export contracts for canola would unlikely be arranged more than 12 months in advance. Once local SAF capacity is constructed, supplies of canola and tallow could be redirected away from export markets and to the domestic market assuming competitive pricing. To supply sufficient volumes of canola oil for local SAF production, extra canola seed crush capacity will need to be constructed. The rise in competition between offshore and the domestic market could increase canola prices. Higher prices could result in a small increase in canola planting, however, the impact is expected to be constrained by agronomic factors. We expect the rise in feedstock demand to expand the adoption of novel oil producing crops. If you'd like a copy of the report, just send over a message #SAF #agchatoz

When you go to vote, you’ll be given two pieces of paper — one coloured and one long white paper. We are on the long white paper, which is for the Senate — meaning the whole state votes. Look for Column H. Find H, and you’ll see Gerard Rennick’s party — that’s us. Put a number 1 in that box. Next, follow the preferences we’ve shared with you: the second preference is GAP — the Great Australian Party — and continue numbering across the top line according to the voting card we’ve provided. It’s simple and it’s important.
